I recently purchased the Bird Falcon Elite Ergo paddle to relieve shoulder and elbow issues. Also, to perhaps get an edge with a different ball look from the impact of the paddle. I will cover the basics, in my opinion, on the ergo paddle. Please be prepared for negative comments about the Falcon Elite Ergo: Paddle is not approved for tournament use, cutting boards are not approved for pickleball, did you make that in your garage, etc. etc. That moved to background talk when pickleball players held the paddle and a few even played with the paddle. Also, vast improvement in my play at the kitchen. 1) The construction - "A" grade 2) The 8oz weight is nothing - the Falcon Elite Ergo feels very light and my swing is quick. Overall speed with the paddle is super impressive. Cuts through the air like a knife - little to no air drag! 3) The grip transforms a paddle into more of a baseball glove feel for me. (note: this is a plus for me bc I played 3rd base for years) 4) Ball response on impact is very strong, be prepared to pound that ball past the back line. 5) Spin hits are impressive at times with normal returns due to the fact my swing is different bc of the way I hold the paddle. When attempting to hit a spin with force that ball is going to jump big time! 6) Controlled volleys at the kitchen - a softness with push hits 7) Backhand hits have improved in strength and the backhand backspin is deadly 8) My play at the kitchen has improved a GREAT deal with faster paddle response - absorbs hard slams with soft controlled returns - this is due to the grip of the paddle, a glove return 9) Less shoulder and elbow discomfort! Downside points 1) My reach is less and I totally missed several balls on returns. This has improved while using the paddle and will continue to improve with play. (this is with any new paddle) 2) Power hits were TO strong - learning a new swing and power hits are gaining strength 3) Spin hits - different due to grip - learning curve, but spins are impressive Summary: I am happy with the Falcon Elite Ergo Paddle, but should have waited for the 30% off sale :-(
