Spreadable Suet Feeder for Woodpeckers Reviews

4.8 Rating 4 Reviews
Attracting our Downy, Hairy, and Red-bellied Woodpeckers meant inviting a hoard of Starlings. We did all the easy things, including switching to all safflower seed and using an upside-down suet feeder (no problem for Starlings). As winter turned to spring, I discovered this novel feeder. We used spreadable Bark Butter inside the "suet sandwich," and used 3/4" masking tape to be margin mindful. Even though this is designed for bigger woodpeckers, only Downys were regular users. The Starlings could get some of the Bark Butter, not a lot. I take this as a win.

The feeder works great but the Woodpeckers miss the Birds Choice Nutty Spreadable Suet which they really love.

This is the only feeder the pileated woodpeckers will feed from along with the Birds Choice spreadable suet!

Easy to fill, very sturdy and heavier than expected. Several woodpeckers and nuthatches already grabbing snacks from it. The starlings land on top and can’t get any suet, but I did leave the last 3/4 inch or so empty. If I had put suet to the end they would get some.
