“This is my first year having issues with bears at my feeder. They have been in the area in the past, but much more of an issue now, so a new feeder was definitely needed. After some research, we purchased this heavyweight one. I can't yet attest to how it will withstand a bear fest, however, my issue is with the design. The first day I hung it up, I was shocked by the end of the day it was empty. When I went to refill, a lot of seed was on the ground, I refilled an we kept an eye on the feeder and saw squirrels hanging on it and the food just spilling out of the holes.
It's a little disappointing the food is more on the ground than in the feeder. I can squirrel proof the structure it's on with peppermint spray. However, I'm going to have to find a way to insert something inside the tube to cover up part of the holes to make them smaller. If I can't, I just paid $128 for birds to eat off my lawn.

“This feeder is bear proof. It was out for less than a day when our bears discovered it. They were able to get some seeds out but they did not destroy it, thankfully. Every other bird feeder we’ve had has been destroyed when a bear finds it.”
“I have 3 of these feeders now after losing approx. $ 200 of regular feeders during 2 yrs. Used to have 9 feeders & have reduced it to 3 bear proof ones. Last night after 1 AM Yogi was here & my feeders were moved around on the steel cable I have bolted into 3 trees for a triangle area. Yogi could not damage them. I bet he/she was pi%%^d! Definitely have nothing but praise for these feeders. They are definitely worth the cost!”
“I was so excited to see this bird feeer! We live in the mountains and have bears and other critters frequent our feeders. This is a very strong and heavy feeder which is just what I needed. The problem is with the design. When the wind blows the feed just blows out of the holes and can empty the entire feeder in no time. I bought two additional ones before I realized this. Now, I am trying to see if I can place a buffer in the center between the holes. Such a bummer!”
“I have been feeding the birds for many years and have purchased too many bird feed to mention. I have bears that destroy feeders and squirrels that live to eat all the seed before the birds. This feeder is fantastic. I bought it to hopefully outlast another bear visit but an si excited that the squirrels have given up on it. Now, my little birds eat cheerfully at this feeder every day. I do put a few other feeders out for the squirrels and bigger birds. I know this feeder will last for many years. I am so satisfied with its quality. Thank you for creating this durable feeder.”
