“In the past I have been making my own hummingbird food with just sugar, water and heating it up. The issue I was having is that sometimes the birds would go crazy over it and other times it would sit in the feeder and go bad.
I got a pouch of this and put it into a feeder side by side with my old feeder. I was hoping this would be a scientific method of seeing what one was the better way to do this. My problem with this setup was that the feeder with this mix only had one hole and the other had 4. So I had to sit there and watch. It wasn’t until I got up early one morning and started to watch that I was able to determine that the birds were preferring this mix over mine as the single hole feeder was the first one to have a hummer attached to it. The other feeder would fill in with birds because the new feeder was already occupied.
I then changed out what feeder held what mixture and now the birds were hitting the 4 hole feeder over the one hole feeder. So that convinced me that this stuff was pretty good. It wasn’t just a preference on the type of feeder.”
