“This is a huge bird feeder! I guess it was my fault for not noticing the dimensions and just basing off of the pictures, but this feeder is so large. It works as it should and definitely keeps the squirrels away, but it doesn't have a catcher for loose bird seeds so a lot of the seeds will fall to the floor which can cause plants to sprout up. It's not terrible, but if that's something that bothers you then I would go for a different feeder.”
“The Birds Choice - Classic Feeder w/Squirrel Baffle and Pole is very nice and within a week the birds have discovered it and are frequently coming to feed!”
“This bird feeder is great. So far the squirrels can't get into it. I really like how the design keeps them off without having to add extra pieces. The birds really like it. I was trying to snap a photo of a cardinal but he kept flying off when I would try to take his picture. The perches are long enough so that larger birds are able to get food too. It holds a ton of seed and seems like it's well made. I pounded the pole into the ground and it seems pretty sturdy and so far it hasn't started wobbling. Overall I really like the bird feeder (and so do the birds!)”
“I can not believe it. I had so many bird feeders squirrel proof where squirrels ate all the food but this one is amazing and really working!!! look at the pics where you can see the squirrel getting stuck inside the hollow part.
The bird feeder is really easy to build and to plant in the ground. The top part looks heavy on the pole but even with the weight of the squirrel it didn't move. The birds are enjoying their seeds while the squirrel are getting depressed!! one of them stay half a day in a tree close by trying to figure out how to get to the seed and it just couldn't!
I love it!”
“This new Classic Feeder w/Squirrel Baffle and Pole replaced many other bird feeders I’ve tried to keep all the squirrels away. Living in a wooded golfing community I get all types of wild little cheaters on my 1/2 acre lot. The squirrels always found a way to get to the bird feeds. Not this time!
It’s made of high quality materials, along with being easy to assemble. After installing in the ground it was very stable. It took a few days to get the birds to find where I put it it but now they get to enjoy their seed.”
“I have many bird feeders in my yard...and none of them have been squirrel proof. So, I was very skeptical of the claims of this Birds Choice feeder. But after many days of the squirrels trying and failing, they seem to have given up. I even emptied the seed out of my other feeders to force my squirrels to concentrate on this feeder and they still couldn't get at it.
Pros & Cons: the plastic of the top & clear siding of the seed bin is very thin. And the top does not latch. Normally, both of these would be huge Cons because squirrels would easily chew through them or just lift the lid off. But on this feeder since it actually is squirrel proof, I guess it's not an issue.
The seed ports are metal and so is the base below. The base seems to be the key to keeping the squirrels away. It's hollow underneath where the pole goes into the base, and then long enough not to allow them to crawl over it.
Seemed very easy to set up. Much easier if the ground is moist before driving the pole into it.
And I also like that the seed basin holds about 5 lbs of seed so I'm not refilling constantly.
I have to give this feeder an A rating since they seem to have delivered the first real squirrel proof feeder I've ever had.”
