“I wish I had better things to say about this feeder! The green metal plates on this feeder are very unattractive. You should have put the translucent acrylic plates in different colors on this feeder, like you have put on your other bird feeders. The metal netting that is wrapped around this feeder to hold the peanuts is to wide and the peanuts fall out constantly! I need to own a peanut factory to keep up with the loss of all the peanuts!”
“We have a family of Steller’s Jays that learned they could fly at the feeder and knock it with enough force to dump nuts out of it. They were able to empty it in about 30min or less.
So I made a skirt. Problem solved.
Seriously though, I test bird feeders here at the ranch and this one is a keeper: it allows me to provide nuts to our squirrels and jays so they leave all the other feeders (and the smaller birds that frequent them) alone. We also clean feeders regularly and I always have a spare of each so that the one that was just cleaned can dry completely while another takes it spot. My only kvetch about this particular model is that eventually the steel wire gives out and there is no easy way to repair the issue.”
