“I Purchased a blue 70 thermal hood and booties to swim in water that is 60°. And they are great. I purchased the gloves which were called thermal as well and assumed it was the same technology but it is not. And it was like I wasn’t wearing anything. When I got out of the water I could barely move my hands. For protection against cold water they are useless.”
Hey Laurie - sorry to hear the gloves didn't work for you. The design focuses on keeping the feel for the water and avoiding the heavy feeling that can come with thick gloves, so there was a trade off between how warm they could be. Some folks love them, others don't. Please contact us if you'd like to exchange or return!
“I bought these gloves for cold open water swimming in the Northeast. The gloves fit fine on my small hands when dry but after a few minutes of swimming, the gloves become very floppy and loose. I have to continuously stop to try to push them up into my cuffs of my wetsuit. They do keep my hands warm but frankly I’d rather swim without them as it is such an annoyance that they don’t stay on my hands. Not much I can do as I bought them new off of someone on Poshmark. Unfortunately, I will be buying another brand of gloves.”
Sorry to hear our gloves don't work for you, we do our best to offer sizes to fit most hands. Hope you're able to find a solution to keep warm and comfortable in the water!
“Bought these to extend my time in the cold lake water of Colorado. Wore them through October and was glad to have them in 48 degree water temps. I have small hands so they did accumulate some water and felt sort of loose and floppy. They did do the trick of keeping hands warm. Power swimming was not possible as my hands could really scoop well.”
“I bought these for my own use - but the water temperatures have risen so I don't need them right now. I am a "feel" swimmer so it took a while to adjust without my hands in direct contact with the water. My wife has been using them and they keep her hands very warm, but they get a little "floppy" over a long swim. We're getting her a smaller pair.”
“I purchased the small and they fit well when trying them on. They tend to really stretch when wet and become a little floppy. Though my hands stay warm the entire time and I am very thankful to be able to swim while our pools have been closed. Our lake temps have been in the low 60's and these gloves worked great. I would also suggest that there be a smaller size for female hands or material that doesn't become so stretched.”
“I really love the warmth of the gloves. With all the pools closed, I had to start lake swimming really early this year. My hands were warm the entire time. The only problem is that even a small is too large for me. The gloves fill with water and feel like they are going to come off. But the quality is the same excellent quality that I expect from BlueSeventy.”
“As someone who suffers from Raynaud's syndrome, I could not swim early or late in the season without them. My hands stay warm from start to finish; no more white fingers. The only design drawback I've found is that, as water gets in, the gloves will stretch out and become "floppy". This reduces feel for the water and also creates drag. Perhaps look into a fabric that doesn't stretch quite so much, or that goes on a bit more snug at the beginning to allow for that stretch. I already wear a size small, and my hands are average size.”
