“I already have the Thermal Reaction wetsuit for winter waters here in the San Francisco Bay area, but needed something for the warmer months. The Glide is perfect: crafted with the same high standards as the everything else Blue70 makes, it is comfortable and does what it's supposed to do. Love it.”
“I bought this wetsuit last minute for my first Full Ironman race as I tend to cramp in the water due to overheating. I had just enough time to wear the suit twice prior to the race. I am 6’2 and 215 pounds. The XL fits quite well. Zero shoulder restrictions when pulled up all the way and kept me nice and cool through the swim. I had a pair of bouyancy shorts I was going to use but wanted the extra float through the chest and abs. For sure this suit is not a true replacement for a full wetsuit. If you just need buoyancy go with that. But this definitely fit my need.”
“I wanted a sleeveless shorty for our early morning swims and the Glide is perfect. After about 20 uses, I am very satisfied. The suit is designed and constructed very well. I have found no negative effects on my stroke and the smooth surface of the Glide seems to reduce water resistance for me. I have experienced minimal arm pit and neck rash but I do use Body Glide too. I’m 5’11” and 200 lbs. The large size fits just right. I’m pretty sure that I can wear this under my full suit for our cold water swimming but that is a few months away.”
“Disclaimer: I’ve only worn it once. Regarding thermal benefits, it performed as expected for a shorty. It did very well! Regarding the fit, I’m 5’6+” and 150#, so the small was the obvious choice. Next size up would go up to 6’1”/180. My issue is that the torso seems pretty snug around the chest and to a lesser extent, between crotch and neck. I had to have someone else zip it up, though I can unzip just fine. The arm/shoulder points were fine ie no chafing at all. So is it just me and perhaps it will “stretch out” with time? Hope to hear from a Blue70 person. Bill”
Hi Bill - glad that overall the suit fits well! What you're describing often is not having things properly adjusted. Check out our wetsuit fit site: www.myfirstwetsuit.com for detailed fit instructions and videos. You can always also reach out at cs@blueseventy.com or reach us on phone or chat to discuss the fit and get help. Having someone else zip you up is always the best choice, though with practice and care it can be done solo.
“I wore this wetsuit in my first Ironman. I don't like sleeved suits as they are to constricting on my shoulders. Fit was great and very comfortable. I did get some chaffing on the inside of my arms about a mile into the swim. The stitching around the arm openings is fairly abrasive. On shorter swims it wouldn't be an issue. I also did not apply any Vaseline/body glide in this area. Overall I'm happy with the suit. Water temp was 67-68 that day and the suit kept me at a perfect temperature.”
“This was my first ever wetsuit which I bought for an olympic distance triathlon. The wetsuit was perfect for the water temps I saw, around 60F - 65F. Easy to get on and off by myself and sizing held true. I opted with the sleeve less which gave me plenty of mobility and didn't tire my shoulders out.”
