“Be very careful with wetsuit and scratching. I used white gloves given and followed the instructions for putting on wet suit. That went well and when in water, it felt great. Upon second use, however, I notice 3 scratches on suit. I have had a wet suit before and had not scratched it, so it was disappointing to have scratches upon second use.”
Hi Andrea - Sorry to hear your suit was scratched. We highly recommend using Aquaseal neoprene cement to seal those up so they won't tear further. Take care to avoid pressing your fingernails into the suit, and use care when putting it one, usually folks get a tear when trying to move too much of the suit at one time, work in small sections for less chance of tearing.
“I am thrilled with the fit, warmth and ease of swimming in my new Blue Seventy Reaction suit. The video was super helpful in learning how to get it on and off as well. Folks in the shop were informative and pleasant to deal with. I love it!”
“This is my second Blue Seventy wetsuit and as the first one, not disappointed. I've tried the competing brands (probably not cool to spell them out here but you know who they are) and the fit of Blue Seventy is spot on. I've only worn it once - made the mistake of buying it when it's now 60 degree waters in the NE, but it did feel great and kept me warm!”
“I LOVED the feel of most of this suit--all except for the stitching along the right side of my next that rubbed the worst chafing spot I have ever experienced. I see from other reviews that I'm not alone . . . I knew it was sketchy from the start of my swim, but it was my first time wearing it and I was so excited ... It takes some effort to get geared up to swim in Puget Sound, so just I hoped it wasn't as bad as I feared and did the mile I had planned. Bad idea. It was terrible to shower and hard to sleep for the next 5 days due to the pain. I went to Blueseventy as I live nearby, and was casually asked by one employee (somewhat condescendingly) if I knew about Body Glide. I've been a distance runner for many years, and I well understand a little chafing and the role of Body Glide, but this issue was way beyond that. Also, for the price of this suit (and the fact that I've never needed Body Glide in my old, recently-torn Zoot suit), I just don't accept that as the solution. I'm waiting for a new Reaction replacement in my size to give it a second try, but if that right neck stitching gives me any rub, I'm out.”
Sorry to hear about the bad chafing. Unfortunately chafing is very common in wetsuits, especially when swimming in salt water. Hopefully the new suit makes a big difference!
“This wetsuit is easy to put on and remove. It is comfortable to swim in and it keeps me warm enough even in the Puget Sound. I don’t use the Velcro on the neck and I don’t zip it all the way closed. This has prevented my neck from running too much against the wetsuit when I breathe and it feels more comfortable. My experience purchasing this wetsuit was so enjoyable. Everyone at Blue Seventy was knowledgeable, friendly, and share a love of swimming. I would definitely recommend this product and also recommend going to the shoreline location to find a wetsuit and talk with some incredibly nice people.”
“This is my first wetsuit, pandemic-driven purchase. I love how warm it is and that I've been able to swim regularly. My biggest peeve is the neckline. I haven't figured out how to adjust the suit so it doesn't rub at the neck when I turn my head to breath.”
Hi Marcie - glad you're loving the wetsuit. In order to keep a bit of a seal around the neck to limit water movement into the suit, the neck is designed to be snug. It stays in place while you turn your head side to side to swim, so some rubbing is unavoidable. We recommend a quality lubricating product, non petroleum based, such as body glide to limit any discomfort.
“Wetsuit fits perfectly and is very soft and flexible, with great buoyancy. This is the 3rd Reaction I have owned and the best one yet. Blue Seventy sizing charts are very accurate and the size options are the most I’ve seen. I actually prefer this wetsuit to my Helix full sleeved because I could never get the reverse zipper on the Helix zipped without asking for help.”
