“I am a woman of height about 5’6 and weight about 185 lbs. Lots of weight is muscles (also some curves), so I went with a women’s large Athena instead of the size-chart-recommended women’s xl Athena, and the fit was perfect. It’s tight to get on but really not a struggle, and maybe I could have sized down, but this was great. I swam in a protected cove in the San Juan Islands where the water was about 51 degrees. Whenever I was horizontal, I couldn’t even feel the cold water; it only moved a bit when I went vertical, and even then, just felt like a cool bath. I wore this suit with water socks and over a one-piece swimsuit, and there wasn’t any discomfort with the overlapped fabrics.
The suit did arrive with a one-inch tear along the seam, but I didn’t bother to exchange it and I am sure the Blueseventy team would have been helpful if I had reached out.
The return process for the other suit I ordered to try out was very easy.
After the swim, I rinsed the suit in fresh water and let it dry out of the sun. It only took a few hours, so, pretty easy to manage.”
“So far I have been very happy with it. The only thing I wish I could change it being a little less tight around the shoulder area. Otherwise very happy with purchase.”
If the wetsuit fits well overall but is tight around the shoulders, you likely have not gotten it pulled up and adjusted as well as you can / should. First make sure the wetsuit is pulled up through your legs and snug in your crotch (no space!) Then, bend at the waist about 45º and grasp the little bulge of neoprene near your core. Work that up into your chest. Then make sure the wetsuit arms start about 1/2-1" behind your wrist bone (if you wear a watch it would be behind the watch), then work the neoprene up into your shoulders. You want the neoprene to be tight or stretched across your forearm where you are not bending/flexing and any excess neoprene to be up by your shoulders. If the neoprene is not stretched to start, it will have full flexibility and be much more comfortable as you move. Hope that helps!
“I've had wetsuits in the past, but this one is my favorite b/c of the material and thoughtful construction of the suit. The different material thicknesses throughout the parts of the body make the suit as streamlined as possible without it feeling heavy while being worn in the water like other suits I've owned.”
