“This year alone, I was stuck in quarantine 3 times with my toddler. As you may know, working from home is already tough. Not being able to go out is a different challenge.
On our 4th quarantine, I decided to try and rent a pikler triangle and slide from Sophie to help my toddler burn some energy while we are stuck at home. I am so glad we did so!
These pickler triangles are quite expensive and we really don't know if my toddler will like it. Sophie's husband makes them and they offer a monthly rental option. I booked a few days before we flew back to Zurich and she made sure we have the pikler triangle upon our arrival.
The craftsmanship is superb! You can actually see and feel that they used high quality materials in making the apparatus. They also delivered it assembled so I did not have to worry.
If you are looking for a similar apparatus, here are my tips: First, consider buying something that is made in Switzerland due to safety. It is easy to be tempted to buy these toys from other countries due to the price. But this is something your child will climb on hence, structural integrity and safety should be a top concern. Most pickler triangles sold in etsy are not CE marked and do not follow swiss toy safety standards as well, so you can't be sure of the quality. Returns are also difficult if you bought from another country.
Second, convenience. You might want to get from a shop that will actually deliver to your home and will guide you on the proper assembly and use. Sophie's business is based in Zurich and they do deliver!
Third, they take up space so you need to be strategic and plan ahead what you will do with the apparatus in case your child loses interest. Born Ready Pickler triangle and slide allows rental and offers the possibility of buying them back from you. Hence, sustainable!
