Pluses. Sturdy and well built. Versatile and adaptable. Completely (nearly)compatible. Minuses. Heavy weight. Doesn’t work with apples’s own keyboard port. Keys are slow.

I have owned the top iPad keyboards, including Apple’s. No one comes even close to the features and functions of Brydge. After trying mine my friends make the switch.

While the keyboard looks awesome, mine came with a questionable glitch and sudden loss of battery power. I received my board a week ago and after three emails, three phone calls with messages left, and even a chat dialogue, which did not generate a response after I answered their initial engagement, I've yet to receive one single call or email of acknowledgment, or better yet--help. This I did not expect. Disappointing start without any answers. I want to give this a one star, but the keyboard itself is a beautiful piece of hardware even though it appears to be flawed. But, Customer service--not so good.

After waiting what seemed like half a year from ordering to delivery (wait…it WAS half a year) I was quite anxious to get my hands on the new keyboard. Certainly the emails Brydge sent out ahead of shipping promised quite a bit. With that background, here are my thoughts: 1. Overall build is impressive, though a bit heavy. Not the heaviest of the Brydge keyboards (the 12.9” has that dubious honor), it does add some weight to the iPad and you’ll feel it. 2. Keyboard is the most disappointing. Unlike previous Brydge keyboards I’ve owned, typing on the new keyboard feels mushy which sometimes leads to missed keystrokes. In this regard, the Logitech keyboard has it beat. 3. The magnetic iPad back cover: Nice try. Leather is nice, but the magnetic connection isn’t quite enough to keep the back protector from slipping off. I think it would have been more successful if it had wrapped around some of the edges. 4. Apple Pencil. The Apple Pencil is held on with nothing more than the simple magnet. It will fall off if you’re not careful. Overall, a decent keyboard, but not a grand-slam home run.

Although heavier than I anticipated, the two main issues are 1) closing windows/apps from the bottom are almost impossible to do without lifting the tablet slightly to initiate closure, and 2) the back cover extends just enough over the edge to catch my hands/figures. However, believe these issues have an awful lot to do with my big hands. So, we passed to our granddaughter who is enjoying the keyboard and very much, not to mention the USB-C port and protection. Terrific product.

The keyboard itself is awesome with great functionality. They keys work really well, like a PC or Mac. So the drawbacks. It is extremely heavy ... far heavier than any other keyboard. It feels almost as heavy as a Mac. Also, the rubber hinge shims which protect the ipad when you insert it tear quickly ... after two weeks. They quickly agreed to send new ones, but if this keeps happening it will be super annoying. Without them, the ipad won't hold. Using while damaged could crack the ipad. Seems like this could be a design flaw. I've been careful inserting and it still happened.
