Please Note: You won't see Verified Purchase as I bought the Brydge 11 Max + on Amazon from Brydge. This is not my first experience with Brydge Keyboards. In fact, I still have the first Brydge Pro 11 Keyboard I bought, when I got my first iPad Pro 11 in 2018. It was a uniformly excellent typing experience and no one, I repeat, NO ONE can find fault with the quality manufacturing of a Brydge Keyboard. Did I love the hinges you had to use to attach the keyboard? No. But that would have been the only feature I didn’t love. When Apple updated iPadOS with the ability to use a mouse/trackpad, the keyboard I owned didn’t have one. And at that time as a birthday present, I was given the Apple Magic Keyboard, which I’ve been using since. So why did I just replace the Magic Keyboard with the Brydge 11 Max +? Read on and I’ll explain: I do like the Apple Magic Keyboard. It’s an elegant design with the iPad floating over the keyboard. And it has excellent typing feedback. The trackpad works flawlessly. And while some may say the Smart Connectors are an advantage (just attach the iPad to the keyboard and your iPad powers the keyboard) I don’t see it that way. Why you might wonder? The battery in your iPad must power the iPad AND the keyboard. This drains the battery in your iPad very fast. And this means you end up recharging your iPad a lot. And the more you charge your iPad, Battery Health is going to decline which is exactly what happened to my 2018 iPad Pro. So, I just bought a new iPad Pro 11 2021 with the M1 chip. And I didn’t want to go through the same battery usage issues on my new device. Brydge says the battery in the 11 Max +, once fully charged can last up to 3 months. This isn’t quite as long as my previous Brydge. But this keyboard does so much more, and the trackpad surely uses more power. If you don’t use the backlights, you’ll likely get more mileage, but the backlit keys are really good, especially in a darker room. If you use the Battery Widget in your Today View on your iPad, just swipe right on the Trackpad from your Home Screen and you can see the remaining battery charge there. The Magic Keyboard is plastic. And it’s a finger-print magnet, which requires constant cleaning. The keys quickly started to show wear areas where you type the most, like the space bar. And where your palm rests, you’ll leave a residue that is hard to clean off. It has no functions keys, which after owning the Brydge Pro previously was a major deficit. And if you wanted to type in Portrait mode, it’s simply not possible. Brydge has made some amazing changes and upgrades since I got my first keyboard. It’s still an Aluminum design, which perfectly matches my iPad Pro’s Space Grey finish. But now it has a Trackpad, which I can absolutely confirm works as well as the Apple Trackpad. And gone are the hinges I didn’t care much for, in favor of an Apple-Esque-Magnetic Snapfit Case. You just put the iPad on the bottom hinge, lay it back and it locks in place with a resounding click. And it’s REALLY in place. You can turn the keyboard upside down and it won’t go anywhere. The hinge is very smooth in operation and goes to a 135 degree angle, which is better than the fixed angle on the Magic Keyboard. When you get your Brydge 11 Max +, it comes packaged beautifully. There’s the keyboard protected in a plastic film, and a quick user guide. The first thing I recommend is charging the keyboard for the first time. It can take up to three hours for a full charge. Mine took about 2 hours. Then place the iPad in the keyboard, turn on the power button and tap the Bluetooth Key next to the power button and hole until the power button light blinks blue. Next, go to the Settings Page on your iPad, tap Bluetooth, look for the Brydge 11 Max +, tap it there and wait for the box to pair to appear. Tap Pair and you’re paired. One thing Brydge has added to these newer generation keyboards is the ability to update the firmware. Nice! Go to the App Store on your iPad and download the Brydge Connect App. Open the App, tap update, then plug the USB C power cord into the keyboard, tap update and if an update is available it will download really quickly. It all took about half a minute. Now, you’re ready to go. I mentioned typing in Portrait mode. All you need to do is remove the iPad from the Magnetic Snapfit Case and place it in the case in Portrait mode. It won’t attach magnetically, but since you’ll be in a typing position, it won’t go anywhere. Just remember it’s resting there, not magnetically held in place. Brydge has engineered some magic in the Bluetooth 5.0 interface. It’s Instant-On. And Instant-On stays active for 4 hours even if you don’t touch the keyboard during that time. There is absolutely NO typing lag. None. Zip. Nadda. Type and you instantly see the letters on the screen, just as though it was using the Smart Connector of the Magic Keyboard. And the Trackpad. The Trackpad is significantly larger than the trackpad on the Magic Keyboard. Gestures, which include: Open Today View by swiping right; Zoom and Out; Scroll Up/Down; Go Home; Open Search; Switch Between Screens; Open the App Switcher; Scroll Left/Right and Open Control Center are identical to the gestures on the Magic Keyboard and to me, work just as well. Having a row of Shortcut Keys is simply wonderful. You can adjust the brightness of the Backlit Keys in three brightness levels. You can adjust the volume if you’re playing music. You can bring up the onscreen keyboard if you’re in an app which requires typing. You can fast forward or rewind video. And you can lock the screen with the tap of one button. I’ve sorely missed the shortcut keys and can’t tell you how great they are to have back. Nothing matters much on a keyboard, if you don’t like the typing experience. This is an area where Brydge has ALWAYS excelled. The Magic Keyboard has a really good typing experience. The Brydge even better. The keys may be a tad smaller on the Brydge, but spacing is perfect and the keys travel a little further, more like the keys on my HP Spectre Laptop. I’ll just say, I prefer the typing feel on the Brydge better. So, there you have it. All this magic comes in a better built keyboard, which does more than the Magic Keyboard can, for a $100 less than the Magic Keyboard, making it a no brainer to choose the Brydge 11 Max +. This entire review was typed on the Brydge Keyboard and I can’t tell you how happy I am to back in the Brydge keyboard world.

I bought the keyboard for a 92-year old friend so that he didn’t have issues with “shaky touch” on his iPad…he (and I) love it. The function row makes it more useful than the Apple Magic Keyboard

It feels like a MacBook and sounds like one too. The trackpad is way to use and way bigger than the magic keyboard. Loving my buy.
