This is a fantastic keyboard and what I really wanted from the last gen. Love the functionality and large trackpad. Still getting used to all the swiping options. Switching to magnetic is so much smoother and makes the transition from tablet function to ‘laptop-like’ much better. The little clips on the previous ones were clunky and I always felt like I was putting so much pressure on the screen, but not so with this new set up. I did find the lack of power cord strange; I had mine from before, but that might not be the case for everyone. Perhaps add it as an add on option before purchase? (For Brydge 12.9 MAX+)

I have been using the new Brydge Pro+ 12.9 keyboard for a few weeks now and wanted to share some thoughts. Setup was easy enough given that I had the Brydge Connect app installed on my iPad for another version of the keyboard on the laptop already. The process itself is a bit clunky, downloading updates, and then UN-pairing the keyboard, and RE-pairing. If Brydge could streamline this process, we would all thank the gods, old and new. That said, I love the typing experience and the new attachment cover! Brydge products (I’ve had several over the years) always have a premium feel because they are well-designed and well-made. But this latest version builds on the original design and adds to it with an improved typing experience that is more akin to the MacBooks of old. The new keyboard makes it easy to switch from tablet to keyboard mode, AND eliminates the old hinge design. I always worried that the hinges would break my iPad screen. So, my own irrational fears on this score are no longer an issue with the new keyboard. Even so, no device is perfect. Even the Apple competitor, Magic Keyboard, has its issues. Here are two critical issues or downsides for folks to consider: First, the track pad is huge and this is a plus. But the palms of my hands tend to nick the edges as I type sending the cursor scurrying into the digital abyss. It’s so maddening especially when I’m in the zone working. For some people, this will be a dealbreaker. Second, I don’t love that there’s an appreciable lag when powering on. Some of the promo materials advertise instant on. This is a bit generous. The keyboard will certainly power on in the AM and the battery life is great. But there is a slight delay and sometimes the need to hit the power button when waking the machine. I’ve also had plenty of issues with MS Word and Excel for iOS. Microsoft apps are a hot mess anyway but it seems like the Brydge keyboard’s scrolling functionality has its own set of challenges when used in MS Excel. I constantly worry that the keyboard cursor will freeze or that the app will crash. I’m neurotic about saving my work anyway so this doesn’t bother me. But it is a concern to note. In all, the keyboard is a great alternative to the magic keyboard. I prefer it in many ways. And yet the Brydge 12.9 Pro+ Max does not seem to have the speed of connection that the Magic Keyboard has due to the lack of smart connectivity. I would recommend this product as a magic keyboard alternative. It does everything that the Magic Keyboard can do for less money. But if the connection and Bluetooth issues identified above are a dealbreaker, then beware. I’m fairly picky and am fine with the quirks. But your mileage may vary.

Compared to Apple “magic” keyboard, which I also own. Where the Brydge Max is superior: Keyboard, top row keys (esp. sound and screen lighting, looks, overall feel, comfort on the lap, attaching rigamarole, price. Where tbe Apple “magic” is superior: though the trackpad is much smaller, Apple’s is easier and more fun to operate; connectivity—Brydge has done about as well you can with Bluetooth, but Bluetooth still sucks.

Not a soft touch or "tap" to right click on the screen. Very hard, clunky, "plasticky"' sounding right click. How can this not be just a soft tap for right click on such an expensive product?

I usually don’t write reviews but this keyboard is a must have … pros cheaper than apples native keyboard , lapability is a whole lot better than apples native keyboard that’s the reason i got this … also it gives the iPad a real laptop feel …. The keyboard is a true pleasure to type on , top row function keys are great …trackpad is huge !! Completely blows the first gen out the water …..now the cons ….even though its easier to use on your lap than apples native keyboard its still top heavy and tends to tilt over if you use the full degree of the keyboard angle ….weight .. agian its heavy probably weighs as much as an older MacBook Pro { but that doesn’t bother me } … and there is no smart connection like apples keyboard so no pass through charging which isn’t a deal breaker for me ….overall i love this thing don’t bother buying the first generation get this one

Updating the firmware was not intuitive. The two finger scrolling in webpages is not as sensitive as it could be. Other than that it is a solid keyboard. Now I just need iOS to up its game!
