I own a SP3 and had already bought a Surface Dock, which allows me to plug in and use my SP as a desktop computer, but as a tablet, when you need to type out something long or do precision work with the mouse, its difficult to do on a touchscreen. I bought my SP3 when the Brydge 12.3 was already announced so I pre-ordered and did not get the MS keyboard cover. When it arrived, setup was quick. (I will add switching out the shims was a bit stressful, and I think I did it right, but time will tell.) I love it! It definitely feels like a small laptop and there is good response on the keyboard. The trackpad is a bit small, but since it is a SP I find myself using the touchscreen more anyway, and switching to the mouse when I need precision pointer input. Overall, I'm glad I waited and I really enjoy this. I now have a tablet, desktop, and laptop all in one device!

I just receivied this today, a few niggle issues, which are likely more related to bluetooth than the keyboard itself, I would have liked a slightly larger trackpad, but overall i'm very happy with the product.. Also, Guys.. the instructions printed in the box don't tell you how to enable the backlight (FN + Right CTRL), I know there's an icon there, but still, the instructions are there on the web, just not on the paper in the box for some reason :(

The 12.3 keyboard for the Surface Pro 3/4 is a complete waste of money in my opinion. First off, it is extremely bulky and heavy for a keyboard, nearly doubling the overall weight and size of my Surface Pro 3. Second, the track pad is extremely small, rough to the touch and with sharp metal edges at the perimeter. Given that the size of the pad is so small, your fingers constantly run up against the sharp metal edges - not a pleasant experience. Lastly, the track pad software is erratic and anything but smooth when scrolling. Like many, I couldn't wait to get my 12.3, but after one day of use, couldn't wait to take it off and return to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 type cover. If you really need a laptop experience, maybe get in line for the Surface Laptop; as this overweight, poorly engineered keyboard is not a solution you will enjoy.

Got it set up yesterday. Way better than I ever expected. For v.1 it's outstanding. Only complaints are as mentioned earlier the trackpad is small but more importantly there is a hard/sharp edge to where the trackpad and the handrest meet. Also, it comes with a surface 4 shim installed, looks great but i had to rip it out and put in a s3 shim and I jacked it up so it doesn't look factory fresh. Other than that it's awesome.

I pre-ordered this Brydge 12.3 due to deficiencies in the stock Surface Pro 4 keyboard, and a glowing recommendation from a colleague based on his experience with an iPad keyboard. I am sad to say that after 1 full day of use, the keyboard has been retired and I will not be using it anymore. The touchpad is completely unusable. It is on the smaller side, has sharp edges which catches the metal wrist band on my wristwatch, and it is impossible to right click. It takes me several attempts to get the touchpad to right click successfully, and since clicking the touchpad creates a lot of noise, it is very distracting to others when I am in meetings trying to do work-- all they hear is CLICK CLICK CLICK as I frustratingly try to right-click. It usually takes me 4 or 5 tries to right click. It's a real shame because Brydge charges a 7.5% (minimum) restocking fee for used products, so I'm in a lose-lose situation here. I regret making this purchase.

It was the only thing missing from the Surface in my opinion. A rigid, hard keyboard to give it the stability of a laptop. Got mine in about 4 days ago, and it works flawlessly. Paired up easily and functions just as it advertises. Why Microsoft didn't come out with this themselves is beyond me.

Just received my 12.3 keyboard in the post today, absolutely love it! It makes my surface pro feel so much more secure when just using it on the couch or on my lap. Having previously been a mac user, it really makes it feel like the best of all worlds! My only criticism is that the trackpad is a little small when compared to the surface pro type cover but I can see how that had to be sacrificed to allow for the hinge. Overall a fantastic product.
