“I haven't had this long enough to notice any results but, my dog happily eats his food when this is sprinkled on so that's a great start for me.A little expensive compared to other brands so hopefully it will work just as well as them”
“Buddy & Lola Clean Canines Plaque Off, Dog's Teeth Cleaning Product & Dog Breath Freshener - Daily Plaque Remover (if brushing with a Dog Toothbrush or Dog Toothpaste is not an option). Dental Dog Breath FreshenerAs many will know, your dog's teeth can get badly stained especially as they get older. Removing this staining/plaque can be a problem – some vets will do it but it means a general anaesthetic. This is impractical and unsafe for older dogs who suffer with this problem. Daily individual brushing is probably the most successful but there are some dogs that will strongly resist this and then there is a big problem how to proceed. On the market now are food supplements that can be added to the dogs food daily and this will help to remove staining although its a long job and can take many months. The Buddy and Lola “Clean Canines” supplement is fairly new to the market and having a 9 year old hound with teeth that get stained, it was a good opportunity to try it.Firstly it comes in a 180 gram tub that will set you back £30, that's an eye watering £166.50 per kilo. It is a grainy dry supplement that is added to food in one, two or three scoops per day and whilst the scoops are not large, with a big dog it soon disappears. With it taking a long time to work, it is difficult to asses just how good it is..or not in the short term. Our hound is not particularly keen but tolerates it. It actually works as a diet controller which is not a bad thing as older dogs need to keep in shape perhaps more than younger animals who can burn off excess easier.Well we need to address whether it works or not and as said earlier it's a long haul but there are signs of improvement although we adopt daily brushing as well. The supplement certainly helps and makes the brushing easier.Does it work better than other such items on the market ? It's really too early to say but at this stage it is no better and no worse.I guess the obvious conclusion at this stage is that since this Buddy and Lola product is so expensive and does not appear to work any better than products that cost 25% of the price, shop around there are other “plaque off” products to try first. I would also recommend regular brushing with a suitable “finger brush” and a doggy toothpaste. This works and will be helped by a supplement but as at today I cannot suggest you spend £30 just to try this one.I will update this if there is a significant change.”
“More expensive than my last tub of similar powder but it's quite a big tub and its good and full.Pull the security seal off and hold the tub on a table before prising off the lid.My lid is tricky to remove and with a full tub, accidents could happen. The powder is very acceptable to our dog ~ so that's good. The powder is a bit messy, this is probably the carbon in the mix, until I was more careful dispensing it there was lots of hand washing needed. It has more active ingredients than the last powder I used and I am certain that this one is better. If you can't brush your dog's teeth then this is a product to help you. No instant results but over time it helps and the other active ingredients make my dog's breath much more acceptable.”
“When I ordered this item to test, in my mind I imagined it to be chewy tablets or similar so I was surprised to see that it is in fact a powder that you put into your pets food. The ingredients are; Seaweed, Turmeric Powder, Parsley Powder, Activated Charcoal, Peppermint Leaf Powder and you can certainly smell them when you open the tub. I have a very fussy Labrador who wouldn’t touch her food with this in it. I’m not convinced that having this regularly would do her tummy any good either.Directions; For Dogs Up to 10kg - 1 scoop per day, 10 to 25kg - 2 scoops, 25 to 40kg - 3 scoops which would make this quite an expensive product with its current price of nearly £30.For some this may be a wonder product, especially for dogs that may not let you brush their teeth, but I would imagine that you would get much quicker results from actually just brushing their teeth.”
“Buddy & Lola Clean Canines Plaque Off Dog Teeth Cleaning Products & Dog Breath Freshener - Daily Plaque Remover Without A Dog Toothbrush Or Dog Toothpaste - Dental Dog Breath FreshenerAt the shelter I volunteer at we exclusively deal with dogs and cats that come from abusive and neglectful households. Naturally this means they've not received the (medical) attention they so deserve, nor have they been fed quality diets. This more than often results in poor breath, and teeth that need a lot of TLC. Sadly a lot of them have lost their trust in humans or are simply not used to any form of official handling. Not wanting to agitate them any further and cause undue stress by forcing them through a teeth brushing routine, we start them off with dental powders. These powders are exceptionally easy to feed, they can be sprinkled over their kibble or be mixed in with wet food, peanut butter, yogurt or whatever else takes your dogs fancy. The scent is not offensive at all and we are yet to find a dog who will turn up their nose to any food mixed with these powders. While it certainly doesn't replace a good brushing routine this does help eliminate some mall odors coming from your dogs help and it can start you off on the path to eliminating plaque. So that when the dogs are more comfortable with handling you can slowly introduce brushing. In the meantime however you can rest easy knowing you are doing everything you can supporting your dogs dental routine.”
“My dog had awful breath, REALLY bad breath. I added it to the food and it took three days before it really, really, really helped Death Breath's aroma. I no longer have to hold my nose when she comes close. I don't know if I want to put it in their food every day, but I certainly find it effective.”
“To be frank, one of my cocker spaniels can have dreadful breath at times and nothing seems to solve it for long. So it was with interest that I tried this out to see if it would help out and make any difference. It has a faint minty smell when you open it. The idea is you sprinkle a little bit over your dog's food and away they go. It's quite grainy so I wasn't sure if my dog would turn his nose up at it but he waffled it down without any hesitation. There has been a slight improvement in his breath so it has worked in that sense. The plaque "removal" takes more time but whilst this cannot be a replacement for actually getting in there and cleaning your dogs teeth it is a useful too as part of a wider regime of dental care. It certainly can't hurt but it doesn't mean you can stop doing everything else you would do.There's also no getting around the expensive price. It's not a miracle worker and doesn't replace what you should be doing anyway so it's quite an expensive way to supplement normal routines.”
“I have been using this type seaweed based powders for 3 years now - however i had not tried this brand - it is very muh the same as others i have tried but this contains charcoal and peppermint. My westie is not a fan of having her teeth brushed - these powders do seem to keep her front teeth really white but the back teeth do get tartar build up still - i have been using this 4 two weeks now and she is quite happy with it, her breath doe smell a bit fresher but her teeth do not seem any better to be honest xI will keep using this product to see if it is any better than the cheaper ones on the market - but so far it seems overpriced and not sure it is any more effective sadly!”
