“This is first time I have ever reviewed a product- here goes.
The five of us live on North Shore of Kauai. We range in age from 69-73 with a 55 yr old youngster. We all walk and carry and handicaps range from 7-12. We play 3 times a week-Monday/Saturday at Princeville Makai and Thursday at Wailua. Both are 6+ mile walks, moderately hilly. In summer months heat and humidity contribute to the challenge of carrying. We decided on investigating electric trolleys. The group researched all trolleys. We picked Cart Tek for these reasons:
1. I toured the Bend, OR Cart Tek World Headquarters and met Tyler, Mark, Manuel & Armando. It is a family owned company. That meant a lot to the five of us as we all owned our own companies. Service and being able to talk to someone was important to us. Tyler explained to me the history of the company, the manufacturing of the carts, etc., that if an issue arose to call him personally and it would be taken care of that day. I believe him.
2. We live in a wet climate where the carts will be used. I had several questions regarding this issue. Mark & Tyler shared what parts of the cart we should keep an eye on, what to do in case of down pours and what to do in case we had an issue with a cart. They were direct- if we ran one into a lake or stream submerging the battery, more than likely there would be an issue. I appreciated their direct responses.
3. Without sounding arrogant, the 5 of us are not price driven. We are value conscious, service driven, and basic’s oriented. We were looking for a quality cart. The extra “stuff” such as GPS screen, USB phone connections, etc. were not driving factors in our trolley purchase decision. We all have GPS shooters and phones that have excellent battery longevities. The more stuff you have means more stuff that can break or go bad due to the climate on Hawaii.
4. A really big issue for us was freight cost, primarily due to shipping of the Lithium battery. Honestly, we were shocked at the ability to receive the cart in 2 days at the freight cost they provided. For those living in the contiguous 48, your freight is free. It is a big deal for us.
So how do we like the trolleys? One of the five of us has a five year old Bat Caddy at their mainland home course. Although not an apples to apples comparison due to cart comparison age differences, the quality of the Cart Tek trolley exceeds that of Bat Caddy. We took them out for the first time in dry conditions( it was course lift clean and place) but no rain on 1-11-22. It was fun- and honestly a big difference carrying vs walking hands free. We all believe the operating learning curve will be short. After only one round it is to early to discuss battery longevity, quality issues, service, etc.. I will be happy to share those experiences with the trolley after using it for a few months.
Thanks you guys at Cart Tek for coming down the Monday after Christmas to let me experience the cart and answer questions.
Aloha, Garth”
“From start to finish, you guys exceeded all of my expectations. Doing some research with other cart suppliers, I was being told why they couldn't ship it to Hawaii. Quite frankly, I was losing hope for getting a cart by Christmas. Mark Mullen, of Cartek ....what can I say. He got the ball rolling and made it happen, including shipping to Hawaii and BEFORE Christmas. I am ecstatic and Merry Christmas to me. I am recommending Cartek to my friends who are just drooling over my new toy. Mahalo Cartek and Mark Mullen.”
“The cart is well made and is easy to operate. It performs well and was easy to assemble. The only change that I would make would be to lower the knob on the upright stand that holds the scorecard. It is to close to the top bag holder.”
“Unsatisfied with service-
I sent the item to the wrong address, that’s my fault. I asked for help to remedy the situation and got one stock useless email response. I called three times and my calls were not returned. When I called untreated in making a purchase I received two calls.”
