“This is the second time we have ordered the Kettle Apples. The picture in the ad is great, so appealing. The idea of the stewed apples is so great because they could be used at breakfast or a side order at dinner or for dessert: so ubiquitous in their use. Both times we have savored the apples because they retained an apple taste and had a hardness that felt like the fruit retained its identity, so to speak. The other good aspect was the cinnamon, such a favorite taste with family members. But this time, the family as a whole said not to order the apples again because of one factor that came up the first time too. In spite of the two previous characteristics, everyone felt there was too much sugar in the recipe. Overly sweet to the taste. One member of the family said for instance, "I feel my teeth ache with all the sugar!" Sorry that is harsh, but the truth and because of the high sugar taste, we threw away the rest of the apples. Why is it that we Americans have to have so much sugar in our foods? Smuckers is a good example of spreads that suffer from that. I hate to say it, but European jams and marmalade and other sweets have a more reduced, more sensible amount of sugar.”
