“I am very satisfied with my ChessUp board. I primarily purchased it to help my 6 year old son learn how to play chess. Since using it, he immediately learned how to play and absolutely loves playing on it.”
“I just got the board about three weeks ago. and I am trying to learn. how this thing works. It is not as easy as it sounds to make it work. like your advertisement says. I think you need to work on the implementation. of the instructions a little bit more. I'm having a lot of trouble with the application that goes along with the chess board. that is supposed to expand the. Elo rating. to thr 3000. If you play on Leeches. I'm having trouble getting on Lee chess. If I can't get it to work, I will send it back.”
“My husband lover it! I hate playing chess and now he can play with our almost 4 years old daughter with the assister mode. Best father's day gift ever.”
“Level of chess is designed for intermediate players. Had to start over a few times because of unknown glitches. Good product, I'm still learning ChessUp.”
“The board is unique and the build quality is what I expected. However, the functionality of the board and app are not good.
It is easy (and frustrating) to lose the connection on OTB games. Whenever I set up an OTB game, my phone is locked into using the app with my screen on. If I go to the home screen, switch to a different app, or turn off my screen, then the connection to the board is lost and there is no way to reconnect. It appears that, once a move has been registered, you will also lose the connection if you try to take back a move by placing on the previous starting square.
For one of my use cases - setting up an OTB game between kids with custom assistance - the experience is full of resets due to app issues. It would not be so bad if you could reconnect, or continue the game with similar assistance levels from just the board. Neither of those is possible as of July 2023.
When it works for a whole game, I am more than satisfied with my purchase. It's frustrating to have to reset kids' games or have them continue playing with no options for assistance. I probably would not buy it again or recommend it.”
