HX provided a wonderful experience. The expedition team were approachable & knowledgeable. The ports of call provided insight into the Icelandic ways of life as well as some amazing scenery & wildlife. The zodiac transfers were conducted professionally & in a timely manner (no long queues) Amazing!!

Please share your thoughts on any specific tours or hotels that you would recommend or would not recommend? Radisson Blue Plaza in Oslo could not provide the "superior room with views of the fjiord" because it a double king size bed, and my daughter and i had asked for twin single beds. The hotel finally relegated us to a "disabled" room (with no views) and when one of us had a shower water spilled all over the bathroom floor. The phone in the room wqasn't working (nor was the TV!) so my daughter had to go down to Reception to get towels to mop up the fllor before we could use the toilet/bathroom again. I have asked Chimu to obtain a refund for us, but so far I have heard nothing from them or Radisson.
We are always looking at ways to improve our sustainability efforts. Can you tell us about any initiatives you saw at the accommodations you stayed at to conserve energy or reduce waste? Please specify the town/city and hotel name where you observed these No
Were any of the activities you participated in during your trip designed to protect the environment? If so, please share details about your experience. Tes, our Expedition Team picked up big bags of rubbish on the shores.
Were you able to connect with local communities during your trip? If so, please share your experiences. No, only in the Museum and cafes at Longyearbyen was their any opportunity to talk with local people.
This was an excellent adventure -10 days around the Svalbard Archipelago. The only reason why we couldn't do all the landings that were planned was because of those pesky polar bears patrolling the shores!
