In a modern interpretation of the original 70’s dive watch, wear the new Promaster Mechanical Diver – the timepiece with a deep backstory. Inspired by the design of the 1977 Citizen Challenge Diver that was found on an Australian beach in 1983, the watch was covered in barnacles after having been submerged in the Pacific Ocean for years but was still ticking. That history has inspired our new Promaster Mechanical Diver and given it the affectionate nickname, Fujitsubo – Japanese for barnacle. The lightweight and scratch-resistant Super TitaniumTM case is complemented by a black dial with embossed hands and a classic green luminous for a vintage feel, a rotating elapsed-time bezel, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The retro look is completed with the black polyurethane strap with a raised square pattern. This advanced timepiece with automatic movement features enhanced magnetic resistance to protect against external magnetic fields, as well as a 42-hour power reserve. This high-performance watch comes in an exclusive collector’s dive tank box, is ISO compliant and water resistant to 200 meters. Caliber number 9051.

I absolutely love this watch! Prior to this purchase, I had numerous watches that while I wasn't necessarily not proud to wear, I didn't wear with pride! I cannot stop looking at my wrist! This watch basically says, "I could have bought a Rolex, but why? My watch is just as good or even better and I spent tons less!" Has already become an eye-turner for my friends/clients!

I think it’s very good, but it would be great if they could provide complementary citizen bracelet for the price. But overall it’s a handsome watch.

Have really loved this watch. Sizing it spot on, classic styling, and the titanium is a great choice for the reissue. I like the strap. It's pliable, matches the case structure, and overall it fits me really well. Could be slightly shorter but it's not a deal breaker for me at all. The color matched date wheel (silver) is excellent attention to detail. The bezel has a nice quiet action. Light and responsive. I'm not crazy about the polished tone of the bezel. Like the aluminum insert. The crystal chamfer is a really nice touch. To Citizen: to make this hit so much harder I would improve the following 1. AR coating on the underside of the crystal. The way the crystal is cut and the smaller dial dimensions it would greatly add to the legibility of the watch. 2. Increase the crown sizing by 2-3mm. It is anemic as it stands. That's it. A bigger crown, AR coating, shorter strap, and you have an amazing watch! Keep up the good work. I'll continue to wear this regardless of the slight niggles.

I've been a watch collector and lover my entire life, but have never had a dive watch before. I was looking for one that cost less than $1,000, and after looking at Hodinkee and Fratello articles I quickly narrowed it down to this watch. It's unreal for the money! Easy to read, attractive, comfortable, keeps very good time, and the quality and finishing is as good as anything out there. The titanium also seems impossible to scratch, so the watch will probably always look like it just came out of the box. I am seriously surprised at how good this watch is, and for the money, you can't beat it. I've been wearing it every day since I got it, and would get another in a heartbeat if something happened to it.

let me start out that like everyone else i think the crown was at least 2mm too small. while that's just an esthetic issue, we love divers more than other watches because of the very cool esthetics. that said, everything else about the watch is perfect. i say that as a vintage dive watch restorer, with a love for classic dive pieces, as well as some of the hockey puck style quartz or mechanicals as well. back to this piece, at 41mm it satisfies those who prefer a smaller watch, and the style is very close to the original, which for me is the golden age of classic divers. the movement is arguably better than the classic Swiss autos, and certainly this came more accurate than any Swiss diver auto i ever bought (which is a lot of them). finally, i'll point out to anyone gun shy of the quality control on Japanese watches (due to the laxity of another top Japanese brand, sadly) i will say Citizen has the most flawless quality control of any brand i've purchased and owned. i wear this on its original rubber strap, and i simply adore it. even with its overly small sized crown.

Awesome watch! Keeps time well within the spec. Titanium is very light and comfortable. Lume is excellent. The dive bezel is a little muted and I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it's since grown on me, especially considering how good the rest of the watch is. The rubber strap leaves something to be desired, but with 20mm lugs it's a strap monster. Overall, excellent quality, could not be happier with my purchase!
