Promaster Fujitsubo Reviews

In a modern interpretation of the original 70’s dive watch, wear the new Promaster Mechanical Diver – the timepiece with a deep backstory. Inspired by the design of the 1977 Citizen Challenge Diver that was found on an Australian beach in 1983, the watch was covered in barnacles after having been submerged in the Pacific Ocean for years but was still ticking. That history has inspired our new Promaster Mechanical Diver and given it the affectionate nickname, Fujitsubo – Japanese for barnacle. The lightweight and scratch-resistant Super TitaniumTM case is complemented by a black dial with embossed hands and a classic green luminous for a vintage feel, a rotating elapsed-time bezel, and an anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The retro look is completed with the black polyurethane strap with a raised square pattern. This advanced timepiece with automatic movement features enhanced magnetic resistance to protect against external magnetic fields, as well as a 42-hour power reserve. This high-performance watch comes in an exclusive collector’s dive tank box, is ISO compliant and water resistant to 200 meters. Caliber number 9051.

let me start out that like everyone else i think the crown was at least 2mm too small. while that's just an esthetic issue, we love divers more than other watches because of the very cool esthetics. that said, everything else about the watch is perfect. i say that as a vintage dive watch restorer, with a love for classic dive pieces, as well as some of the hockey puck style quartz or mechanicals as well. back to this piece, at 41mm it satisfies those who prefer a smaller watch, and the style is very close to the original, which for me is the golden age of classic divers. the movement is arguably better than the classic Swiss autos, and certainly this came more accurate than any Swiss diver auto i ever bought (which is a lot of them). finally, i'll point out to anyone gun shy of the quality control on Japanese watches (due to the laxity of another top Japanese brand, sadly) i will say Citizen has the most flawless quality control of any brand i've purchased and owned. i wear this on its original rubber strap, and i simply adore it. even with its overly small sized crown.

Awesome watch! Keeps time well within the spec. Titanium is very light and comfortable. Lume is excellent. The dive bezel is a little muted and I wasn't crazy about it at first, but it's since grown on me, especially considering how good the rest of the watch is. The rubber strap leaves something to be desired, but with 20mm lugs it's a strap monster. Overall, excellent quality, could not be happier with my purchase!

Received the watch direct through Citizen’s website and it came with defects. There is a dent/dip on the side of the case. This is obviously poor finishing. There are scratches on the aluminum bezel. I’m not sure what’s going on with the hand tag either. “Eco-drive-auto dive”? It’s a shame because this watch had minimal dust under the crystal and the bezel was aligned. Returning it for a refund.

Bought one and was so impressed with the quality and feel that I quickly purchased another one. A solid watch that can be had for under $500.00. There really is no competition for this watch at this price point. And when you can buy two for the price of one that isn't even Titanium it's hard to pass up.

Exactly as I wanted. I have other Citizen eco drive watches and they work great. I wanted a mechanical and am very pleased. Perfect size. Great price. Very nice.

I was inspired to purchase this watch after watching respected YouTube reviewers. I agree with their assessment after purchasing. This is a great watch. If you want to be brought back to the 1970's style dive watch, this one is hard to beat. My source for purchase was directly from the Citizen watch website. I have zero regrets purchasing this watch as I find it provides great value for money at the price I paid for it. Just be prepared... the titanium case is very light and some may perceive it has having little substance, almost toy like. This is no toy, it is a serious quality dive watch and I've adjusted to the lack of heft on the rest, and have come to appreciate that experience.
