This is a fun activity in Tower Gateway, London

Discover the Japanese art of kintsugi at this London pottery class and create a beautiful ceramic piece to take home.

Kintsugi is an ancient art form that celebrates the Japanese philosophy of the beauty of imperfection. It involves putting broken pieces of pottery back together with gold and embracing the cracks to produce a beautiful piece of art, showing how the obstacles that we overcome in life can become an important and powerful part of our identity.

In this kintsugi class, your experienced tutor will tell you all about the history and philosophy of kintsugi whilst taking you through the process of making your own kintsugi piece.

Kintsugi is a perfect solution for a mistakenly broken treasured item, but to practice this art form you'll learn how to safely break pottery to practice mending it in the kintsugi way, without overdoing the cracks.

The gold of kintsugi is what makes it so beautiful and in the next stage of your craft class, you'll learn to use a micro metal mix with epoxy resin to create your gold solution. You'll then use this solution to fix together your broken pottery pieces, creating a wonderful piece of perfectly imperfect art.

You'll finish this London kintsugi class with lots of new knowledge on kintsugi pottery and the ability to mend broken ceramic pieces. You'll also take away your own handmade piece of kintsugi art. Kintsugi is a therapeutic process and you'll feel a sense of calm and accomplishment as you finish this special workshop.

Your finished piece is only for display not for food use, microwaves, ovens or the dishwasher.

Brandon & Lee were amazing hosts!! They made this workshop fun, interesting and made this feel easy for beginners, they definitely evenly distributed their attention to make sure we were all doing the correct steps. I would recommend this class so so much! I loved this workshop and creating our pieces.

The team were really nice and went round to help us all and review our work. PPE was provided to make sure we were all safe from start to finish. A really lovely atmosphere and so nice to bring home a finished bowl!

I have been planning to do Brandon’s Kingtsugi pottery class in London for quite a while and finally I booked and attended. The class was fully booked, so book in well in advance. The venue is great and plenty of space in the upstairs studio and he provides everything from, gloves , classes (for the early part of the session), aprons and all the equipment and tools you will need. Brandon is an excellent facilitator/ tutor. Giving plenty of demonstrations , examples, support and time for all individually. It’s a beginners session so don’t feel you will be out of your depth. Plus they were family groups, couples and solo attendees. I went on my own and did not feel uncomfortable or awkward. He also provides a large selection of bowls in different sizes, designs and colours, which are high quality. The group starts each session of the tasks together which is an excellent way of working together, although we have different abilities. I highly recommend this workshop you will not be disappointed. There’s a reason why Brandon has excellent 5* reviews. I suggest you wear clothes that are casual and not concerned about it they get any gold dust on. Although aprons and gloves are provided. Follow his instructions and advise and you will be rewarded with a wonderful experience and your piece of kinsugi art home. He also sells Kintsugi kits , unfortunately they were all sold out by the time we had are workshop.

We both had an amazing time! A perfect date day and Valentine’s present! Brandon was a fantastic teacher. The class was very relaxing, with a tiny bit of stress (the good kind!) mixed in trying to get it right! Brandon was very patient and fun. We love our bowls!
