“My friend and I recently had a great experience over a weekend workshop. The studio was well set up and Nam was super friendly and informative. Highlight was being able to “break” the studio’s recycled pottery that you get choose yourself (someone also bought their own broken piece in to fix which was cool). I love my finished piece. Would recommend :)”
“What a beautiful morning/afternoon spent learning the art of 'Kintsugi' which means “to join with gold." Kintsugi is part of the wabi sabi Japanese philosophy and is a reminder to stay optimistic when things fall apart and to celebrate the flaws and missteps of life. The ancient Japanese philosophy helps us accept our flaws.
We completed the workshop at Konburu studios in Stoke Newington, what a little hidden gem this place is! Nam our teacher was very informative, he and his team gave great instruction on the intricacies of the art form and we left with two beautiful pieces and a calm state of mind. Which has been much needed after the last 7 months.
Nam explained that Kintsugi represents seeing the beauty in imperfection and this class was exactly what we both needed. We shall definitely be going back for wheel throwing classes too!
