This is a fun activity in Stoke Newington, London

Discover the beautiful Japanese art of Kintsugi by repairing a handmade ceramic pot created by one of our studio potters. In this hands-on workshop, you'll learn traditional-inspired repair techniques and leave with your own unique piece to take home.

Guided by our experienced ceramicists, you'll restore a broken pot using the principles of Kintsugi, celebrating cracks and imperfections rather than hiding them. No previous experience is required, making this a relaxing and rewarding introduction to this timeless craft.

About Kintsugi
Kintsugi (金継ぎ, meaning "golden joinery") is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery by highlighting rather than concealing the cracks. Traditionally, broken pieces are rejoined using lacquer mixed or dusted with precious metals such as gold, silver or platinum.

Beyond its technique, Kintsugi embraces the Japanese philosophy of **wabi-sabi**—finding beauty in imperfection—and reflects the idea that damage and repair become part of an object's history rather than something to hide.

Really enjoyed this class, I highly recommend it! Fiona was a great teacher, clear and knowledgeable but also calm, friendly and made it fun. The studio is clearly a very creative space with a nice vibe. Happy with the two pots I made and took home, thank you Fiona for the help and patience!

The workshop was fine, but really need to do something about heating the work area. Working in heavy costs is pretty messy..

I took my sister-in-law for her birthday as she loves pottery but had never tried Kintsugi. It was a great class - clear instructions, really helpful support and fun!

Great introduction to fixing a ceramic piece with gold and glue! You could bring a broken piece to mend but I didn't have one so I was given a choice of ceramic bowls to pick one to smash with a hammer. Teacher was good, I had fun and I kept the piece.
