This is a fun activity in Bankside, London

Just a 2-minute walk from London Bridge station, discover the calming joy of pottery at Maison S.Sommet.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour BYOB wheel throwing class is a chance to unwind, get messy and create your own functional ceramics in our warm and welcoming studio. Guided step-by-step by our expert teachers, you’ll learn the foundations of wheel throwing before creating your own cup, bowl or ceramic vessel. Even complete beginners are often surprised by what they create in just one session.

We provide everything you need including unlimited clay, tools and aprons — just dress comfortably and trim your nails beforehand for the best experience.

At the end of the session, select your favourite pieces to be professionally glazed and kiln-fired in your choice of our signature Cobalt Blue or Clear stoneware glaze for £10 per piece. Finished ceramics are food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, and are usually ready for collection within 4–5 weeks.

Perfect for date nights, birthdays, friends or solo creatives looking to try something new in London.

Our studio is fully equipped with air conditioning — ideal for escaping the heatwave.

Clay, music, good company and your new favourite mug.

Our instructor Tilly was so helpful and genuine, gave very clear instructions and lots of help. I thoroughly enjoyed the class and can’t wait to get my pots back!

We did a private Hen-Do Pottery Class for 8 ladies and it was fantastic! Good pace of teaching to learn the technique, enough time to practice and we got to use as much clay as we wanted to make 2-3 pieces in the end! Will be coming back for sure!

A group of five of us attended this after work on Wednesday 25th. The teacher was very good and explained everything very clearly and the whole class was a very good experience. I would reccomend the class, and teacher - none of us are particularly creative but the whole experience was 10/10.

Good fun, you can throw as many pots as you want (all small pots). Not sure why it’s called BYOB because that isn’t really possible it turns out whilst throwing clay.

I was gifted this pottery class by my partner and I would not hesitate to buy this for myself and do it again. Tilly was a lovely teacher. She explained the steps clearly and was hands-on throughout, re-explaining and assisting when needed. She was able to balance helping every individual while being aware of the wider group. I went to this class alone, others were with friends/family, show up how you like, it really is for everyone. Thank you for the lovely class.

This was a really enjoyable afternoon. The teacher (Tilly) was excellent. Almost everyone was a beginner, but within the 2h she successfully had us all throwing pots. If we had any issues as we were working she was able to help us correct them. I would definitely recommend it if you are interested in throwing ceramics!
