This is a fun activity in Bankside, London

Just a two-minute walk from London Bridge station, discover the calming joy of pottery at Maison S.Sommet.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is a chance to unwind, get messy and create your own functional ceramics in our warm and welcoming studio. Guided step by step by our expert teachers, you'll learn the foundations of wheel throwing before making your own cup, bowl or ceramic vessel. Even complete beginners are often surprised by what they create in a single session.

We provide everything you need including unlimited clay, tools and aprons — just dress comfortably and trim your nails beforehand for the best experience. The studio is fully air conditioned, so it stays comfortable whatever the weather is doing outside.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be professionally glazed and kiln-fired in either our signature Cobalt Blue or Clear stoneware glaze, for £10 per piece. Finished ceramics are food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, and are usually ready for collection within 4-5 weeks.

Perfect for date nights, birthdays, friends or solo creatives looking to try something new in London. Bring your own favourite drinks along to top off the experience.

Clay, music, good company and your new favourite mug.

Tilly was a great, very helpful instructor. The taster sessions was so much fun, and the perfect way to dip our toe in, and try pottery. You are taught how to make a bowl, mug, cup, jug or vase. Any shape really, the instructors are lovely and help you center or shape it the way you want. I really couldn't recommend this session enough!

From the moment we arrived, Tanvi was very welcoming and explained each step thoroughly. She was very funny and made us feel at ease, especially since it was our first class! Tanvi was very helpful and answered all our questions. We enjoyed shaping our clay and we highly recommend this experience - thank you Tanvi!

Overall we really enjoyed the experience of the Workshop, However we were really disappointed to discover that we would have to pay an additional £10 per item we made in the class. This is not mentioned in the website or on the booking anywhere. It’s really unreasonable and although we enjoyed it we wouldn’t book in again sadly. Given that we already paid £80 for the workshop which was about 1hr 15 mins with the set up and clean down. One piece minimum should be able to be glazed for Free with our booking but we paid £50 plus £15 shipping which I know the shipping would cost £7.95 max for a up to 5kg box as a business owner myself that uses RM daily. The workshop and say in total with the 7hr round trip i had to make. was £145 for the work shop for 2 trinket dishes. I think it’s really expensive for what it was, the hidden costs are not advertised and were only explained in the workshop. We will leave an online review aswell. Had fun in the session but for £80 for 2 not £165 sadly.
