This is a fun activity in Bankside, London

Just a two-minute walk from London Bridge station, discover the calming joy of pottery at Maison S.Sommet.

Perfect for complete beginners, this relaxed 2-hour wheel throwing class is a chance to unwind, get messy and create your own functional ceramics in our warm and welcoming studio. Guided step by step by our expert teachers, you'll learn the foundations of wheel throwing before making your own cup, bowl or ceramic vessel. Even complete beginners are often surprised by what they create in a single session.

We provide everything you need including unlimited clay, tools and aprons — just dress comfortably and trim your nails beforehand for the best experience. The studio is fully air conditioned, so it stays comfortable whatever the weather is doing outside.

At the end of the session, choose your favourite pieces to be professionally glazed and kiln-fired in either our signature Cobalt Blue or Clear stoneware glaze, for £10 per piece. Finished ceramics are food-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, and are usually ready for collection within 4-5 weeks.

Perfect for date nights, birthdays, friends or solo creatives looking to try something new in London. Bring your own favourite drinks along to top off the experience.

Clay, music, good company and your new favourite mug.

I signed up to the beginner/taster class with a friend and had a great time. The teacher was very kind and engaging and overall really cool! The vibe of the class was quite chilled which I enjoyed as it made things less daunting. Everything ran super smoothly and she was quick to step in when anyone needed help. I was super impressed and grateful that there were latex free gloves available for my friend after she began having a light reaction to the clay - it's usually hard to find latex free alternatives without us going out of the way to buy/bring them along ourselves as it's not a particularly common allergy, so this was a big plus for me! I would definitely recommend this class and I look forward to picking up my pot in a few weeks!!!

The class was very good, I liked the fact that we had a freedom to do as many things as we wanted after a quick introduction to pottery, which was also really informative and beginner friendly

Always great to try something new. I enjoyed the experience, small group but would loved to had the opportunity to sit down as standing for 2 hours was hard for me. The teacher was very nice but having a helper would of been beneficial to get around us all with questions.

The class was really nice. The istructor took her time to show and explain the steps of wheel throwing. Fost we got a demonstration, then a step by step guided first try and finally we had free time to do as many containers as we were able to fit in the time left.

Really fun class. Instructur was very good, very helpful and fun. We got hands on very quickly, it was quite messy but expected. Allowed to use as much clay as needed and throw away when things went wrong. Instructor stepped in many times to help us recovery our pieces. Suprised that I managed to make 3 pieces.
