“The class was great - everything that was needed was provided. It was a really simple process. There were a few different designs to choose from. Our instructor was great at explaining and demonstrating what we needed to do before letting us do it ourselves.”
“Super fun and interesting workshop. Learnt so much from the Artist, about Chinese enamel art history. Such a creative studio with lots of other talented artists working on other crafts. Would definitely recommend to anyone.”
“Mabel was lovely and did a great job at explaining the history of enamel and the practical aspects of each step of the procedure. Although there were 2 other classes going on simultaneously, none of them felt like they were interfering. Although I did get the feeling she was teaching two classes at once. At the end of it, I came away with some lovely ginkgo leaf earrings.
Suggestions:
1) it would’ve been nice to know beforehand which items were included for free and for each price range. Unfortunately knowing how many are included in each price range is not as helpful. I also would’ve liked to have the option to pay for this via the website. (The ginkgo leaf earrings cost £20.00 extra and I had to pay via bank transfer).
2) I expect you to know what class you’re teaching and not have to ask me which class I booked into. Looking at the other enamel jewellery class they run, I’m not sure why this was relevant as upon looking at the other class, the description is identical, and just costs £10.00 extra.
3) I’m not particularly artistic but given you have set designs, I feel like people should be offered the option of using a template design and colouring it in. I also feel water colours or chalk would be a better medium to use rather than colour pencils. Colour pencils are fine for those where you only want one colour per section, but not so great for where you want to blend colours.
All in all it was an enjoyable experience worth going to at least once.”
“The workshop was very positive and relaxed. It started with short history of Chinese enamel and variety of designs. A short demo was given with instructions on how to design and select colours.
We were given a choice of silver blanks - small onces were included in the workshop price. Larger blanks were offered at additional price. I bought a butterfly blank which I decorated with 6 colours. It turned out very well after 7-10 min of oven baking and cooling.
The teacher was very attentive and eager to help. I always have million questions and it may get people annoyed. But not at this workshop. All my questions were answered and design options discussed to help me choose well.”
“One of the best workshops I have taken. Mabel and her team were amazing! Wonderful workshop, great information and super patient and fun! Would highly recommend to anyone event suitable for kids!!”
