“This is a really beautiful and fun product. The hits are amazing smooth, the unit feels good in your hand - it's a real joy to use. However, I have a gripe with it which is that the oven is filled by flipping the unit upside down, which means water spills out of the top of the unit where you fill it in. This necessitates emptying out the unit of water before refilling the oven and then having to pour water back in. While this is a minor annoyance, it does detract from the overall experience which would otherwise be perfect. The other gripe I have with it (again related to water) is that if the water chamber is more than 50% full, it is very easy to accidentally pull too hard and pull water through the mouth piece. Additionally, the mouthpiece does not dry easily, so once it becomes somewhat waterlogged, every hit is accompanied by a small drink of water.
Understandably, it is difficult to engineer a product that allows easy passage of vapor but not liquid...if it hasn't been already. Maybe something like a tesla valve could be used?
In any case the product is great aside from the water issues, which are minor to me. I really enjoy using it!”
“This is the cleanest way to smoke in my opinion. Very unique and different then other vaporizers. You can taste the bud very well with us vaporizer. The case is perfect and very portable. I would recommend to others that are wanting to vaporize in a clean way or people that want to try something different and unique.
One problem that I found was that with the glass cylinder piece can leak a lot. I tried tightening and loosening to see if that would make a difference but found that there was always a high chance of leakage. But the plastic cylinder works great.”
“After trying a water pipe attachment on a different portable vape that I own, I've been hooked on water filtration for vaporizing because I find it too harsh on my throat otherwise.
I got the Hydrology 9 as part of the holiday bundle. I wouldn't have purchased it otherwise.
I had some minor leaking at the beginning but seem to have figured out what to do to largely avoid that. That said I wouldn't trust it not to leak if by left in a purse etc.
Design seems solid and I love that it's glass.
My biggest complaint is that the oven is too small. I find it hard to share with anyone because I have to fiddle around changing the herb before either of us has had enough.
My other complaint is that the lowest temperature seems too hot and boring burns up the herb really brown.
Love the built in stir tool but I find the over difficult to load, although it's easier now that I'm using some of the tools that came with the unit.
I heard cloudious will be coming out with a new model this year. I hope they'll offer existing users a discount!”
“I absolutely love this vape. I have lung problems and can no longer smoke weed so I’ve been vaping for a few years and even that can be harsh at times. The Cloudious9 is so smooth that I can take a huge hit and it does not bother my lungs. It was worth the money :moneybag:”
“tl;dr -pros: great looking piece, super tasty vapour, does its job well
-cons: it can leak a little or a lot, reloading herb can be tedious, deep cleaning can be a hassle, minor design flaws
Its first impression is certainly alluring. The aluminum alloy body and glass chamber make for a stunning, sleek design. I love how its operation is based on visual queues with the light colours that fill the chamber. It's a show stopper for sure, and my excitement for it was at an all time high when I first purchased it.
I did a fair bit of digging to justify $250 on a piece like this. I read reviews here on the site and watched people test the piece on youtube. I got one of the holiday bundles that came with the leather carrying case and acrylic glass replacement. It's a fantastic bundle, I love the carrying case. I'm sure in the future there will be more designs and colour choices for it. I would suggest a small pouch or kit designed for the cleaning accessories. I'm thinking of making my own at this point since I use them so frequently between sessions and it would be beneficial to have something to keep them all organized together.
I can attest to its performance. Vaping with the Hydrology 9 is fantastic. I recommend fruity strains with strong aromas. The flavours are incredibly clear, with quick, thorough heating for potent, cool vapour. Its like sipping a sweet, spicy fog on a cold morning.
Overall its an incredibly satisfying piece, but not without fault.
It is not leak resistant. Its design calls for a lot of flipping around. I have to flip it upside down to unscrew the base lid, back right side up to get the vaped herb out, then back upside down to fill it again. Occasionally while reloading a good portion of water will slowly leak out since the piece needs to be flipped upside down to refill the heating chamber.
Its maintenance is a little complicated. The heating chamber and bottom stir stick are quick to build up residue, and whoever prepped my piece prior to shipment screwed the air duct cover so tight that its impossible for me to open it for more in-depth cleaning. The flathead screwdriver piece that came in the cleaning kit is pretty bent out of whack from my attempts at opening it and the cap is so small that typical screwdrivers are too big for the slit to unscrew it.
I would also suggest a rubber cap or something to cover the charging port of the device. Since it is prone to leaking and requires water for some cleaning processes I am concerned about getting water around the side with the port.
It's certainly a new and exciting way to vape. If this is just the start of what Cloudious9 can design I can't wait to see future ideas brought to fruition. I love exploring different ways to consume weed. If you have the money for it and want something new to try I'd say it makes for a solid self present (which is what I did for Christmas this year haha) or something to split the cost with some friends.”
