“This is my second Hydro9--so why the 3-stars? Conceptually, a great vape. Water--genius! Love the gurgle. BUT--how come they never figured out how to make the vape water-tight. A mouthful of pot-H2O is not enntertaining! Th over roasts nicely--but the battery poops out too soon. Enough with the light-show already; why does the user have to pump the mushy switch three-times to activate? See what I'm getting at? Great concept; so-so engineering.”
“I've had mine for I want so say almost a year now, and it's been amazing since day 1. As a non-smoker I found traditional vapes to hurt my throat/make me cough for hours after. This thing is smooth, as I like to use chilled water from the fridge. 10/10 would buy again, and convinced a friend to buy one after trying mine.”
“First of all, the quality of manufacturing of this is amazing! Aircraft aluminum with the highest tolerances--the screw threads are minute and there is no slop when tightening or loosing, the glass fits into the metal such that you can't feel where the glass ends and the metal begins. Now, adding a water element to a vaporizer results in the coolest, smoothest hits you've ever tasted, allowing the flavor of the herb to come through. Then, you added a carburetor hole! How fantastic! But wait, there's more! A built in light show! How fun! Only (slightly) negative: Battery life--meh--a couple bowls or about 15 hits.
So when are you going to add an adapter for vaping oil cartridges?”
“Alright folks, I usually do not do reviews, but I feel that I owe it to all folks like me who saw mixed reviews and was unsure. Let me set the stage here. I have insomnia and sleep apnea which makes it very hard to get a good nights rest. Therefore, I get stoned before I go to bed at night to help me get to sleep. I do some recreational smoking, but mostly just to get to sleep at night. I currently have a PAX 3 and have been using it since it came out. I love that PAX, however I have been looking for something that is not as harsh on my throat as I get to the end of the vape session. Enter the hydrology 9. I find that I am able to stretch my session and turn over the flower using the agitator on the bottom getting MORE out of my flower and zero throat issues. I drain the water after every session, brush out any debris, blow dry with a USB fan and wipe down. This seems like a lost of work, but it is really not much if you do it every day. The water in there does stink and should be rinsed out after use IMO. Once a week, I clean inside by pulling the glass and wiping down with alcohol as well. I will say that I get some huge hits and get more out of the same herb as my PAX. My PAX 3 is not going anywhere, and is still a very compact and inconspicuous device that I will continue to use on the road.
pros
huge hits
cool hits (temperature)
incredible build that is machined to perfection
cons
2 minute session before cool down (not a big deal, as I just hit the power button once, but still an annoyance)
The leather case does not have a side storage for my packing and cleaning utensils. It is still a very nice case that I feel will protect pretty well against breaking while traveling
I wish that I could turn the lights completely off for a stealth mode. I will probably hit up the craft supply chain somewhere and make a thin sleeve that can cover the glass”
“Has some pros, has a few cons too. The main con being airflow. The holes are too small, the airflow is choked. There looks to be a tiny filter inside that you can't get too (white paper looking with pin holes in it) , mine was pretty gunked up after just one session. Even after unscrewing the tiny little mesh grate at the bottom (also gunks up easy) and completely removing it. Feel like the air intake hole needs drilled out with a larger gauge drill bit. Even with the chamber empty. Good for a novelty smoke but over all I'm disappointed. $250? Well, don't I feel silly.”
“Love the aesthetics of it and i don't mind the size i think its the perfect size. My only reasons for not giving it a full 5 stars is i wish the battery lasted longer and the highest setting still doesn't really deliver the strong hit I'm looking for. Other than that its a great product that i would recommend.”
