Thank you for taking the time to write a review! As you wrote, flat back studs are sold individually. This is so they can be mixed and matched! Everyone's ear piercings are different, and, since these can be used in cartilage or lobe piercings, they are often sold as a single item. To help communicate that, we state it in the item title, description, and show it in the product photos.
