“While these are very cute, they don't look quite as I expected them to. In the images it's not obvious where the hinge is, but in reality it's very obvious where the hinge is. Also they don't feel like they're of good hard quality, all but the part that goes through the ear feels like cheap plastic. My ears have on and off been a little itchy with these.”

I'm sorry you're disappointed with the Jude huggie hoops. We try to show all details accurately through our photos on the product listing. One thing that could be happening is that each earring will sit a little differently on all ears depending on a person's anatomy.
As for the material, the whole hoop is Stainless Steel. We take pride in our materials and want to be as transparent as possible!
