“I was lucky enough to spend most of the spring season on this boot. I usually farm corn and ski bigger peaks on a full skimo race setup to go further faster on long spring days but wanted to get a slight edge on performance. The Backland Carbon is noticeably lighter than anything but a race skimo specific boot and made a big difference on the uphill from my old Spitfires. The performance with the tongue in was way better than any race boot I tried. I would recommend always leaving the tongue in. I never noticed it holding me back on the uphill and it skis 100% better on the down. Maybe just remove the tongue if you are using it as your skimo race boot.”
