“The cake looked stunning, cannot fault its anesthetics at all. However my family weren't too excited about the taste. We found the cake sponge to be quite bland. I assume this might have been done because all of the cake's flavour was coming from the extra add-ons, though they were quite overwhelming and didn't taste like they fused together very well.
Personally, I prefer cakes that have most of their flavour in the sponge, with any additional creams/jams etc only enhancing and complimenting the existing taste. Sadly I did not get that from this, which is a shame because I had such high hopes.”
