“So I recently purchased the simple astronomical switch and so far I have not seen it work as described. I have it set to come in at dusk and turn off at dawn. The time frame appears correctly with my time zone. But so far the light does not come on or off as it should. We have been manually having to turn it on and off each night/morning. I’ll continue to review the set up instructions again and again until I'm retain there’s nothing on my end I’m doing incorrectly.”
“"Astronomical" is a very loose term - I thought based on the description, that it automatically has the time set, automatically adjusts for dawn/dusk - maybe I just misread the description. You have to set everything you want - it's not all that hard, but not quite as easy as plug in and good to go.
Also - trying to have this where there are 2 switches for the same lights - easier said than done. You have to have the perfect combination of one light in the on position, the other one off, then unplug the right switch, put the timer in, and hope for the best - it was NOT easy - and I could not figure out one of my switches at all and had to go to plan B. Seriously - be warned - if you have 2 possible switches, good luck figuring it out.
Bottom line though - I set the times that I wanted, and that works as expected. So the item is not TERRIBLE, just misleading and if you have a light controlled by two switches, it takes a PHD to figure out.
Also - Deako claims removing the switch cover is as easy as putting in a card to just twist it right off - yeah right, needed a spackle knife, or screwdriver, then scratched up the paint around the cover”
“having a problem with the Deakp astronomical Timer. I have set it 2 times since I received it, and have had problems. The first time, it worked for 3 nights, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m, and the 4th night , it stayed on in the morning. the 2nd time I set it, it went off at 10 p.m. I put the light back on manually, and it did turn off at 7 a.m. Both cases, I looked at the settings, and they were, on 7 p.m., off 7 a.m.
Will be trying againtonight, 2/16/24.Getting frustrated.”
“Too complicated not easily programmable, the engineer, who designed this forgot about the KISS principal.
The direction print is substantially too small. Not worth the money!”
