“There should be a retainer opposite hand from the one pictured. Very difficult to install the retainer on the rod for the left hand side of the tailgate”

Sir, we appreciate your feedback on our parts—thank you! I agree that an opposite-facing latch rod retainer would make things easier, but Ford only manufactured one style for both the driver’s and passenger’s sides. I’m not sure of your exact year and model, but to verify, I checked Ford’s original parts textbooks. According to their records, Ford used part number E6AZ-5421952-A on the tailgate latch rods for their F100, F150, F250, and F350 models from 1980 to 1989. Please refer to the picture I’ve posted from Ford’s textbook for reference. Again, thank you for your feedback!
