Clarifying Azelaic Acid 20% Cream Reviews

4.3 Rating 267 Reviews
I really appreciate being able to buy this product. My dermatologist prescribed me a 15% azaleic acid gel for my rosacea, but when I filled the prescription I saw that the prescription gel contains sodium benzoate, which I’m allergic to (balsam of Peru allergy; I’m also allergic to fragrances). I didn’t think I’d be able to find an over-the-counter substitute until I came across the Dermatica Azaleic Acid cream, which doesn’t have any ingredients I’m allergic to and also contains ceramides, which I’m supposed to use to heal my skin barrier. I used the 15% cream at first and then moved to the 20% cream, since I had read that azaleic acid products are a little less strong in a cream vs. gel/foam form. It’s been a great product for me.

Effective, but stings the skin more than some other brands I’ve tried at the same percentage.

I am on my second purchase of this product. I bought it for my perioral dermatitis (and I suspect I have rosacea too). Low dose doxycycline alone only partially relieved my perioral dermatitis rash and the addition of this product resolved it completely. I use it on combination with a La Mer moisurizer, Cicapair tiger grass camo drops and then foundation on top. This product does not interfere with this regimen. I am very happy I bought this instead of attempting to get a prescription for azelaic acid 20% cream. I admit I have never used the prescription azelaic acid so I can't give a comparison statement but this product is working and is significantly less expensive and easier to obtain since it doesn't require a prescription.
