“These baskets do not last very long, they fail in various ways unless they are emptied thoroughly every pump cycle. Usually they split down one vertical row, more recently horizontally along the top row. I keep several on hand in case I miss a cleanout. If I am careful, I can get about 3 months before failure. Sometimes it is possible to make a repair to extend life. All good things come to an end!”
“The Hayward skimmer basket is great, cheap, does it's job.
My problem is I have a lovely Poinciana tree that over hangs the pool and plays havoc with the pool cleaning especially clogging up the skimmer basket when flowering and then later in the season when dropping it's tiny leaf segments. The Hayward splits easily, not very strong and I go through 2 or three a season. I'll put up with it because I love the tree and the shade, but if I had a choice I'd go with a skimmer housing that supports a tougher basket. BTW Direct Pool Supplies are great!”
