“Preferred Scopebox 3. I am running Scopebox 4 on MacMini (Late 2014) (updated to MacOS Catalina to run Scopebox 4) being fed SDI through a BMD UltraStudio Mini Recorder. SDI source is a BMD Ultrastudio 4K being fed by Resolve 16 on a MacPro.
Changes to setting on scopes may take a couple of minutes to update. Some settings don't work, e.g. Chroma filtering on the Waveform. The waveform graticule scale in 10bit inaccurately shows peak white at about 950, and 0 black at about 50. Must use mV or IRE scale to see a correct reading. The problem seems to be the trace does not change, but the scale does, and expands when set to 10bit or 8 bit making the reading useless. RGB parade scale and reading is correct.
Currently I rely on Resolve's internal scopes. Scopebox 3 and Edit Ready are great. This software did not say beta, but I hope these problems will be fixed.”
Scott,
Thanks for your feedback. There we a number of sacrifices we had to make to ship 4.0, and we are hard at work to bring back feature and performance parity with 3.5.6 as quickly as possible.
The lag you saw switching between scopes is most pronounced with 10bit sources. You should find scopes much more responsive (10x faster!) in our update v4.0.2.
We had to pull our RGB transform controls at the klast minute because of a stability issue. They are currently slated for reintroduction in 4.1... which will allow users to target studio rgb (and as a result show the correct mappings for IRE and mV scales in parade).
