“I've spent thousands of dollars on Donna Bella hair. It's been my top go-to brand for beaded weft extensions. Their "hybrid" weft was the BEST! Unfortunately that's not the case anymore. The new packaging must be from a different distributor. The color is different, the texture, length, and weft is different.
I've never seen so many black hairs in hair extensions in my whole career. Maybe a few here and there, and was always from cheap hair vendors. I was able to grab many black hairs very fast, and there was still many throughout.
The weft must be made of some sort of plastic, it's a bit harder and doesn't lay flush against the head in many areas. A flat iron didn't fix this. If anything started to melt the weft so I didn't proceed. Also added 45 mins to my installation time which is a pretty big deal.
The color came very ashy, a purple hue. Usually this color comes yellow. I would then dip the weft into purple shampoo mixed with water and it turns into a beautiful platinum (not overtoned.) Instead, I had to dip it into a gold toning shampoo a couple times to get rid of the dull ashy look. Definitely a sign of cheap hair.
I can't run my fingers through without it getting stuck. Which is unusual for Donna Bella hair. Reminds me of cheap hair from Amazon I used to buy years ago when I first started getting into extensions. You learn quickly that just because it feels good at first doesn't mean it will last. If you haven't worked with many different hair brands it would be hard to tell a difference, but you can probably take your chance with Amazon hair for a lot less cost.
My last order consisted of two packages of hybrid wefts this color, and 6-12-60 both are new packaging and the same problems exist in that color also. So I'm assuming this is how the rest of the hair will be from now on. I really hope Donna Bella switches back to their previous distributor. I can't take another chance on this hair for my clients.
* Another thing to note, Donna bella used to be 18.5". These new packages came exactly 18". Which I know isn't a big deal because they advertise 18", but I'm so used to the old Donna Bella they appeared shorter right off the bat.”
“I've been using Donna Bella hair for years and have always loved the product. Unfortunately I'm pretty disappointed with the platinum ash blonde. I just had them put in last week, have washed once and the hair is so dry and frizzy especially at the ends. Not sure if I got a bad batch or if the ash is just too light to maintain the typical Donna Bella quality. Either way I wish I could give this 5 stars like their other products.”
