Hey Abigail, thanks for leaving feedback based on your experience-- I'm sorry the results from coloring didn't turn out the way you wanted. We recommend using a demi or semi permanent color, and only depositing up to two shades darker, never lifting color. Another helpful tip is to perform a strand test. Finally, hair insurance can combat the letdown, as we can replace the set you purchased, if within 30 days. As for the tangling; might we be able to help the issue with a mask or a serum?
