Works brilliantly! Got it to help practice when my housemates are home and there's a clear difference, when using picks and not!

It definitely mutes the sound but it’s difficult to rid the resonating buzz that the mute also generates. Can’t beat a bit of old rag stuffed behind the bridge to dampen the sound, but retain the tone in my opinion.

Well, ok it mutes my Goodtime Americana (more so than I expected) but to stop it producing a nasty vibrating sound I had to seriously squeeze it with pliers (pressing it against a hard surface as per the instructions didn't have the desired effect). To sound okay it has to be so tight that it's hard to fit and even harder to remove. I was concerned about damaging the bridge. I'd apply for a refund but the pliers have marked it. Sorry Eagle, you're brilliant, but for me this is a poor product (and not cheap either!). NB I've tried to set three of the four ratings below (sound quality, value for money and durability) on the lowest setting but they're stuck on "good".

The Eagle Music Ultimate Banjo Mute arrived as promised. It was easily fitted to the banjo and works well for practice. There is some slight buzzing, so a little further fettlin' may be in order.

I was initially disappointed by the mute as it didn’t look very well cushioned by some rather sparse and messily glued on black fluff. As is communicated in the instructions include you need to bend the brass mute so that it fits the bridge of your banjo correctly. I had to experiment with how tightly it needed to fit. Until I found the correct tightness it sounded terrible. Having bent it significantly with pliers I eventually got it to fit very snuggly on the bridge and am now happy with the tone. As someone else said, it makes the banjo sound a lot closer to that of a guitar, which is quite pleasant. But yes, it took quite a bit of force and experimentation to get it to work properly. I’m still not convinced by the glue and fluffy padding used though.
