The solid violin maple rim also acts as the tone ring and produces a bright, clear ‘warm’ sound. 16 bracket hooks are fitted to give even tension on the tension hoop. The tailpiece is a Deering ‘Quiet’ type that accepts loop-ended string. All metal work is nickel plated to a high standard. A milky 11” diameter ‘Deering’ plastic head is fitted (top side coated) along with an ebony tipped 15.87mm (5/8”) maple bridge. The violin maple rim is natural satin finished. The neck is constructed from solid rock maple. The 22-fret fingerboard is inlaid with exotic Hardwood Bow Tie inlays at the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th, 15th, 17th, and 19th frets. The nickel silver fretwork is perfectly positioned, rounded and polished for smooth playing. The geared 5th string tuner is adjacent the 5th fret. The nut is precisely cut and filed for a comfortable string action at the first position. The 5th string tuning peg has a screw to adjust the torque for positive tuning. The Traditional Fiddle Shaped Banjo Peg Head (headstock) is finished in natural satin maple. The name ‘Goodtime’ is Engraved along with a Deering Star with the following inscription ‘Made In USA’. Excellent quality instrument, my first proper banjo after renting a Washburn B7, the difference in quality is unebelievable! I The tone and volume is much more powerful with this model and hammer-ons and pull-offs are incredibly easy. An absolute delight to play - I play clawhammer style so can't speak to the finger pick/plectrum experience though. Definitely recommend if you are looking to buy your first banjo - and this is one of the most affordable too! It arrived very quickly and was packaged with great care and was perfectly tuned. Great purchase all-round.

Lovely to play. Truer tuning somehow than my other banjo. Interesting authentic old-time crafted look about it. Looks as though it's been made in the woods! And I'm a woodworker so that's important.
