Just bought my first tenor banjo, a Deering Erin Ennis. I’m a mandolin player and bought this instrument so that I can broaden my horizons musically without having to start from scratch. I ordered on a Monday and the banjo was delivered on the Wednesday. It arrived fully set up and in tune. The Deering Erin Ennis is a joy to play. It is lightweight, well balanced and sits in your lap comfortably. Best of all, the finish on the neck lets your hand glide over it. It is a real fun instrument to play. There are a couple of nice touches on the set up. The arm rest is snug up to the tail piece and the corners on the bridge are rounded off. This allows you to get your forearm comfortably in position to play those fast jigs and reels that rely on a supple wrist action. The banjo has a wonderful tone and the open back design means that it is not too loud – a real benefit in a busy family home. Hats off to Eagle Music for this superb tenor banjo designed for playing Irish music.
