“I am the biggest fan of the Original & White versions & 100% prefer them to a bueno so these seemed like a game changer & a different spin on the classic salted caramel flavour.
First off the packaging is AMAZING! The colour is fantastic, pops, is fresh, bright, zingy & draws your eye instantly so when these hit the shelves they’ll be one you can’t ignore.
The fingers are individually wrapped like the classics which means the you have the choice between 1/2 fingers & they stay fresh which is always a win.
I will say that they do from getting stuck to the outside packaging so it’s easy to create a hole in the cellophane when opening.
The smell of caramel when you open them is strong & buttery which is impressive for a vegan product; the colour is a beautiful creamy off white & they’re fit to bursting with filling & a crispy wafter that has a satisfying snap! They also average about 27/28g in weight so heavier than stated on the pack.
Caramel is sweet & always will be, but these were sweet to the absolute max!!. The sugary taste is so intense that you don’t get any other flavour profiles. The caramel may have smelt rich, buttery & full of depth but when eaten it was cloyingly sweet & made the bar taste cheap. Because the chocolate covering is also caramelised there is nothing to detract from the sweetness & the coating only intensified it. Mr Jones also tried & said the same thing. It got so intense after a couple of squares I had to throw the rest away.
The texture of the filling was glorious though & the wafer is sublime, but the taste wasn’t my cup of tea & I definitely wouldn’t buy again.
A 10/10 for innovation here but 4/10 for the taste of the bar. So I’m going stick to just LOVEing the classics.”
