I have used the previous version of the CORE stethescope so was excited to try a new streamlined version. I am working with one of the EKO reps as the quality is poor and not sure of the reason (have to hold stethescope in a certain position to hear well). I hope it will be remedied as I work through it with one of the reps.

The stethoscope works very well but will not consider using the app because I feel that it requires my surrendering too much information re: my patients and myself.

I purchased this stethoscope because of its innovative tech and low profile for clinical use. It works very well as a standard stethoscope, with the added ability of sound amplification with the easy toggle of the switch. It does take some experimenting to figure out exactly how to hold it to minimize extraneous sound, because any small extra sound gets amplified like crazy and drowns out everything else. I have not used the mobile app much, but the tracing quality just seems mediocre to okay. I really like the different audio filters, but I do wish that you could toggle between "cardiac", "pulmonary", and "wide" on the device, and did not have to open the app and navigate to a sub-menu to do so. Maybe in the next version...

As an early adopter of the EKO stethoscope, I am greatly impressed with the upgraded tool. The smaller size, better acoustics, and background noise reduction have greatly improved the my diagnostic accuracy. With my history of hearing loss, the background noise tends to be very distracting, so this provides me such a better exam. The app has continued to improve and works with all three of my EKO devices.

I am a Pediatric Emergency Physician in a tertiary pediatric hospital and very much appreciate this new product iteration. I used the 1st gen Eko Core for ~2 years 3 months before I purchased this 2nd Gen Digital Stethoscope. The 1st generation stethoscope had an annoying on/off switch that would often get switched on by accident while stored in my backpack, and has resulted in me starting many shifts without any charge (at least it charged quickly and could be used without batteries!). This 2nd Gen design has a more "firm" button that is not as easily pushed on by accident. The slimmer and lighter design is more modern, and lighter weight does slightly improve comfort when I wear it around my neck. They removed the rubber micro-usb charging port cover from the 1st Gen, which was occasionally annoying to open and would sometimes fall off. The port is now more streamlined and flush on the surface, although it is now slightly more exposed to possible dust (or worse, water) getting into the port. The 1st Gen plastic body felt/looked a little "cheap" although it seemed sturdy enough from the occasional fall from neck height. This body of the 2nd Gen design almost feels/looks like metal instead of plastic (maybe it is metal?) and is more modern, sleek, and sturdy. My only complaint is that because I got used to the 5 inch longer and softer Littmann Master Cardiology tubing (it was attached to the 1st Gen Eko CORE), I have to bend over more when using the provided tubing. I've since swapped out the tubing and have attached my 2nd Gen Eko CORE to the Littmann Master Cardiology tubing. The major upgrade feature though is that this 2nd Gen has a new active noise cancellation feature which alone makes the purchase worth it. It really helps me focus on the sounds I want to hear despite my busy Peds ED environment. The cost and function of this stethoscope makes it leagues above the Littmann electronic stethoscopes. This is how a product should be designed and sold; adaptable/modular, with a solid app, and good quality materials.

The new eko core is definitely a step up from the previous one. Smaller and better sounding because of the noise cancellation. The core is better than anything else on the market. I have owned the littmann 3200 and the eko core easily beats it in the sound department for half the price.

Best Electronic stethoscope I've ever used!! Easy to compare differences between standard stethoscope and electronically amplification by pressing a switch. EKO app neat but you can replace your old stethoscope with this one even if you don't need the app.

As a former paramedic, background noise was always a constant problem that hindered my ability to appreciate almost any sound on auscultation. Now, because of the new Eko Core’s active noise canceling feature, I’m able to appreciate even the most subtle abnormalities – and just those sounds I’d otherwise need to concentrate on –  even in a room flooded with background noise. Plus, the new design is so lightweight and compact, I can leave it on my scope and not even notice it’s there.
