I purchased the core 500 because I wanted the ekg capability. I am family medicine and often hear irregular heart rhythms that could be afib or simply pacs or pvcs. I often put my Apple Watch on my patients wrists to get a quick look. So I’m enjoying that aspect, but it’s not perfect. The watch works better. You do have to use the alcohol swabs and can’t do it on a hairy chest. It is nice to have a printed ekg I can email to myself and print or forward to a cardiologist friend or play back on my phone for the patient to hear/see. I like the amplification for hearing murmurs. Taking blood pressures with it isn’t easy, it’s a bit big and cumbersome and I miss the smaller bell for carotid auscultation. So, the ekg thing is great but could be better and I find I’m still using my Littman if I don’t want the ekg function.

The stethoscope is great and works wonderfully. Great that it does the BPM also. When my patient had a systemic reaction it was great to read the BMP when doing vitals. The case for the system is well made than that of the last one. The only think though is getting it to lay completely flat in the case. But other than that it works wonderful and clearly.

Was hoping the bluetooth feature connecting to my Starkey CIC hearing aids would be efficent to provide patient care with. Unfortunately the sound was not loud enough to be worth the $450. Sound was similar to regular stethoscope. I returned the item.

I am a paramedic and this stethoscope is amazing! I have loved having it and I think it is a useful tool to improve my practice! My only complaint is please make a case or protector for the screen!!! Some kind of plastic to go around it or something because I have only had mine for 6 months and it is already scratched and I’m worried about breaking the screen even more! Please please please have a solution for this!

I am in primary care. I’ve used the eko core, loved it. Thought I was upgrading with the eko 500. That was not the case. I’ve returned it. Cons—needs to be skin to skin to get good sound, digital read out takes too long to measure for the average patient and for someone whom I suspect heart disease I won’t be relying on the digital readout (I’ll be getting formal ekg), I did a full cardiac exam on patient and then the app glitched and data was lost, when the battery dies the device cannot be used (unlike eko core which can still be used as a “dumb” scope even when battery dies, there are three modes but it did not clearly display which mode it was on (you’d have to push the button to see what mode but by doing that it changed the mode). Pros are that it had great battery life.
