“My son is 6 and going into 1st grade. He is not the kid to pick up a book, want to practice letters or numbers so I was looking for something to help. He still has moments of frustration but this another way for us both to be engaged together. Sometimes I help him read and sometimes he prefers to let Ello help him. Is still an adjustment but it’s another great tool for he and I to use.”

“My son was struggling with reading by the close of Kindergarten year. His teacher suggested a tutor for the summer before first grade. I found Ello instead and he is loving it! He loves getting new books in the mail. He loves that he can do it on his own and get help without me helping him…he likes to be a big boy. Very impressed so far with this system and shared the info with my kindergarten teachers in my school corporation”

“The program itself has a great concept, I love the books and idea of my son reading to the AI. However, it often doesn't pick up on the words and he has to practically scream the words several times for Ello to say he accomplished it. We tried with and without headphones but still continue to have an issue.”

“My daughter did not want to read during her summer vacation-but as soon as I turned on the app and she realized that Ello could hear her, she read all 5 books in one sitting!”

“My daughter is enamored with the concept of ello and loves the intersection of app with physical books. However, for $25 a month I would expect the app to be next to flawless, which unfortunately isn’t the case. Numerous times I had to restart because the sentence was correctly read but the points / advancement wasn’t triggered. Similarly, when you click in to the “help section,” it almost seemed like an afterthought, and I would hope this would be a critical part of the product - it would almost speed up during the “sound out” and if my daughter clicked fast it would glitch and show two words overlaid. The elephant also multiple times would lose audio and its mouth would still be moving. Again love the concept but the app is pretty far from perfect and caused a great deal of frustration on my part and for my daughter - normally that would not be a big deal but considering all the frustration tied up in reading and learning at the moment, every setback feels a bit huge for us”

“I ordered this as a trial for $5 and I love how it is improving my sons recognition of words. I know it states he can do it on his own, but I do this with him. It reminds me of the read along books with the cassette that I had as a little girl, but this is so much better! The book selection is fantastic too. I think as he starts kindergarten we may have to continue doing Ello on the side. I can’t recommend this enough…and we have had this for a week only.”
