A no-nonsense item that works as expected. Some reviews mentioned that the prongs are thick, but in the end it works like a charm breaking up the clumps.

I got curious enough to give this tool a try. It is well-built. It does what it's meant to do. It remains to be determined if and how it affects the taste of my espresso shots. A cute gadget.

Using this distribution tool along with the dosing ring and a leveler are (for me at least) the key to eliminate channeling. Only reason this gets 4 out of 5 stars is that the tines are relatively thick. It's excellent for re-distributing grinds within the basket and my only critique is that it doesn't break up static/clumpy grinds. I'm embarrassed about how much channeling I used to just accept as normal before I hopped on the WDT train. There's no going back now.

Love it. And, it is affordable. I like that the depth is adjustable for different doses.

Basket Size Used: 58mm / 16g, 18g, and 21g baskets (+ Naked Portafilter) Grinder: Rancilio MD40 Espresso Machine Tested on: Gaggia Classic & Ascaso Dream PID Compared to the typical needle-style WDT tools you find on Amazon and around the web, this one really stands out in a number of ways. In using an espresso grinder with a frequent occurrence of clumping (like the MD40 I have) this tool does an incredible job breaking up clumps, especially with the 90° bent tines which achieve a “scooping” action at the bottom of the basket. This scooping behavior does a far better job stirring and mixing the ground content, effectively exposing and breaking up clumping through the basket. The improvement in channeling is immediately apparent and will help immensely if you’re using a naked portafilter. I would suggest rolling this WDT between your fingers which will spin the tool and more effectively agitate your ground content. This also breaks up clumps much faster than typical needle style tools, requiring only ~10-15sec of use vs 25-30sec which also helps reduce oxidation time for people who are on the finer end of the spectrum. 11/10, I couldn't recommend this enough. Just make sure to get a basket collar because like all WDT tools, it will create a mess as you stir! P.S. the all-stainless steel construction is a big improvement over a lot of the 3D printed alternatives
