“My 14-year-old Miss Silvia sprung a leak - clearly coming from the boiler. Seemed easy enough to replace the gasket. I did encounter a few issues while disassembling the boiler - one of the allen bolts snapped off due to corrosion. Had to drill it out and then retap the hole. Also note, on older machines, it's probably a great idea to replace the allen bolts when opening the boiler. Keep in mind that one of the bolts is a 14mm instead of 12mm. But after reassembling my baby and giving her a thorough cleaning - she's back to cranking her luxurious and delicious shots. Great price on the gasket and the folks at Espresso Parts are always helpful and they really know the products well.
Happy Caffeination to you all!”
“My poor original model Ms. Silvia sprung a leak after 15yrs of daily use. It was easy to see the leak with the top cover removed; water was collecting around a couple of the bolts when the boiler was hot and under pressure. I was worried that the boiler may be warped, but for $4.51 and free shipping, it was well worth the experiment to see if just a new gasket would solve the problem. Great news... Ms Silvia is working like new once again. Nothing makes me happier than to fix a quality piece of equipment like the Silvia. Oh, and properly pulled shots of espresso make me very happy too.”
“I knew my Rancilio Silvia was leaking, and need a new gasket. So, I ordered one. Took the boiler apart and found "sand"', fine ceramics which belongs in the heating coil. So, I ordered a new boiler, which shipped with a new gasket. I, too, have one too many new gaskets. Looks to be silicone and will be good for a while. I put into the Silvia parts box, being prepared.”
